Manfrotto 190PROB (Bogen 3001BPRO) Professional Tripod Review

Manfrotto 190PROB (Bogen 3001BPRO) Professional Tripod

The Manfrotto 190PROB is not a heavy-duty tripod. It's what Manfrotto considers to be a "lightweight" professional tripod. Yeah, it's lightweight, compared to Manfrotto's larger tripods. But seriously, this isn't something you want to be lugging around on long photo trips.

Feature-wise, this tripod has a lot of things going for it. The multi-positioning column mount allows the column to be positioned either vertically or horizontally, which offers a lot of flexibility in framing your shots. The adjustable column allows the tripod to go as low as just 8 cm above ground level, which is simply great for low-angle shots.

The 190PROB tripod will work fine with cameras from compact point-and-shoot models up to professional SLR cameras, as long as it doesn't involve huge lenses. Manfrotto tripods offer very good price-performance value, especially when weight load is not the biggest concern.

However, the 190PROB is not a high-end model, and its build quality shows. Using plastics on certain parts of the tripod has made it lighter, at the expense of sturdiness. If you don't need the PRO ability to place the center column horizontally, then the 190CLB will be a better tripod for you. The fixed center column should offer more rigidity.

With its many features, the Manfrotto 190PROB will easily serves the needs of most photographers. Sadly, it is really a little too heavy for long photo trips, so this tripod will not see much outdoor action. In fact, it's far more suited to stay indoors for work like product shots!

If you are a photographer who do not require additional weight loading beyond 5 kg and do not mind the weight, this tripod is worth your consideration. It's certainly packed full of features, although you will need some time and effort to set it up.

For more details, read our Comprehensive Review!
