Three Tesco / Lotus’s Stores Closed After COVID-19 Cases!

Tesco / Lotus’s recently announced that employees at three of their stores tested positive for COVID-19!

Tesco / Lotus’s Stores : Employees Positive For COVID-19!

On 7 July 2021, Tesco / Lotus’s announced that several employees at their Melaka Peringgit store tested positive for COVID-19. They reopened on 12 July 2021, after cleaning and testing their staff.

On 17 July 2021, Tesco / Lotus’s announced that several employees at their Sungai Petani store tested positive for COVID-19. They will reopen on 20 July 2021, after cleaning and testing their staff.

On 19 July 2021, Tesco / Lotus’s announced that several employees at their Seremban Jaya store tested positive for COVID-19. They closed the store until further notice for cleaning and to test their staff.

Here is the official statement by Tesco / Lotus’s on the COVID-19 exposure at their Seremban Jaya store.

Dear Customers,

Given that a few of our colleagues have been tested positive for Covid-19, we will temporarily close our Lotus’s Seremban Jaya store from 6pm today, 19 July 2021 until further notice to enable us to conduct covid-19 screening tests on all our colleagues.

The store, mall and common areas will be sanitised and deep cleaned to ensure the health and safety of our customers and colleagues.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused, and we will do our very best to welcome you back as soon as we can.

Tesco / Lotus’s Stores COVID-19 Cases : What’s The Risk?

Anyone who shopped at the affected Tesco / Lotus’s stores, on or before the affected dates, should be wary and self-quarantine if possible.

The risk will be low if both the affected employees and all customers wore face masks, and maintained physical distance.

The Ministry of Health will be conducting contact tracing for all positive cases, and those identified as close contacts will be asked to self-quarantine and get tested.

Let this be a reminder why it is critical that you wear a face mask in public at all times – they greatly reduce the risk of infection.

You should also maintain good hand hygiene by cleaning with soap and water, or a hand sanitiser.

COVID-19 is easily destroyed by soap, so even a simple cleaning operation will definitely clean the store of any infectious particles, albeit only temporarily.
