This is another sad day for all Malaysians – the Ministry of Health just announced the third COVID-19 death – another Tabligh participant.
The Malaysia Ministry of Health also shared details of this case, probably to encourage other Tabligh participants to get tested.
3rd COVID-19 Death In Malaysia : Another Tabligh Participant
The third COVID-19 patient to die in Malaysia is Case 152 – a 58 year old Malaysian man from the Tabligh gathering cluster.
He was admitted to the Tawau Hospital on 9 March 2020, with symptoms of SARI (Severe Acute Respiratory Infection).
He was placed on respiratory support and placed in the ICU on the same day. Unfortunately, his condition worsened day-to-day, and he passed away at 6:27 PM on 20 March 2020.
The Director General of Health Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah expressed his condolences to the family. إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ
Before Case 152, Case 178 – a 34-year old Malaysian male from the same Tabligh gathering cluster, passed away on 17 March 2020.
Tabligh Gathering COVID-19 Cluster : What Happened?
On 12 March 2020, the Malaysia Ministry of Health detected the first case of a sporadic COVID-19 infection in Malaysia, which they caught as part of their COVID-19 surveillance program.
The patient, Case 131, attended the Tabligh gathering at the Seri Petaling Mosque in Kuala Lumpur for three (3) days, from 28 February until 1 March 2020.
Since then, the Ministry of Health has been working non-stop tracking down and testing those who attended the Tabligh gathering.
At the last count, they estimated about 16,000 people attended the Tabligh gathering – 14,500 Malaysians, and 2,500 foreigners.
Did You Attend The Tabligh Gathering?
The Malaysia Ministry of Health is looking for those who attended the Ijtimak Tabligh at the Seri Petaling Mosque from 28 February to 1 March 2020.
