3rd COVID-19 Death In Malaysia : Another Tabligh Participant

This is another sad day for all Malaysians – the Ministry of Health just announced the third COVID-19 death – another Tabligh participant.

The Malaysia Ministry of Health also shared details of this case, probably to encourage other Tabligh participants to get tested.

 

3rd COVID-19 Death In Malaysia : Another Tabligh Participant

The third COVID-19 patient to die in Malaysia is Case 152 – a 58 year old Malaysian man from the Tabligh gathering cluster.

He was admitted to the Tawau Hospital on 9 March 2020, with symptoms of SARI (Severe Acute Respiratory Infection).

He was placed on respiratory support and placed in the ICU on the same day. Unfortunately, his condition worsened day-to-day, and he passed away at 6:27 PM on 20 March 2020.

The Director General of Health Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah expressed his condolences to the family. ‎إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ

Before Case 152, Case 178 – a 34-year old Malaysian male from the same Tabligh gathering cluster, passed away on 17 March 2020.

 

Tabligh Gathering COVID-19 Cluster : What Happened?

On 12 March 2020, the Malaysia Ministry of Health detected the first case of a sporadic COVID-19 infection in Malaysia, which they caught as part of their COVID-19 surveillance program.

The patient, Case 131, attended the Tabligh gathering at the Seri Petaling Mosque in Kuala Lumpur for three (3) days, from 28 February until 1 March 2020.

Since then, the Ministry of Health has been working non-stop tracking down and testing those who attended the Tabligh gathering.

At the last count, they estimated about 16,000 people attended the Tabligh gathering – 14,500 Malaysians, and 2,500 foreigners.

The Malaysia Ministry of Health is looking for those who attended the Ijtimak Tabligh at the Seri Petaling Mosque from 28 February to 1 March 2020.
