Truth : 45 Pedophiles Planning To Eat Children Were Not Arrested!

This is yet another example of fake news created / promoted by The People’s Voice, and here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : Arrests Occurred In 2018

Let me start by pointing out that the news report is genuine, but the arrests did not occur recently. Rather, they occurred as part of Operation Millstone between January 31 and February 16, 2018.

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office announced the results of Operation Millstone on Thursday, 1 March 2018. The video appears to be recorded on that day, or around that time.

Why would anyone dig up this old video and story, without providing any context that this occurred almost 6 years ago?!

Fact #2 : Operation Millstone Only Arrested 14 Predators

The People’s Voice article claimed or suggested that 45 pedophiles were arrested in Greenville County. That’s not true.

According to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, it only arrested “14 predators” under Operation Millstone (sourcearchive).

Fact #3 : Operation Millstone Did Not Only Target Pedophiles

It is possible that the video was cut short, because it lacks context about Operation Millstone. Critically, Operation Millstone did not just target child predators, even though that was the “flashiest” part of the operation and thus, figured prominently in the press conference.

The truth is – Operation Millstone also targeted prostitution and “potential human trafficking activity“. In fact, it arrested far more prostitutes and their clients than child predators!

Other than the “14 predators” mentioned above, Operation Millstone arrested 2 human traffickers, 10 prostitutes, and 17 johns (customers of those prostitutes). Two others not mentioned in the list, were actually arrested and charged with drug crimes.

So if we really want to be accurate, two persons were arrested for drug crimes, while 43 people were arrested for sex crimes, of which only 14 were child predators. Here is the full list (source) of those charged in Operation Millstone, and their charges:

Anatoliy G. Parchuk, of Gaffney, is charged with prostitution.

Fact #4 : Only One Man Expressed Passions For Cannibalism And Bestiality

The People’s Voice article claimed or suggested that “45 pedophiles who planned to eat children” were arrested in Greenville. That’s not true either.

Only one man – Justin Teeter Bensing, who was 36 years when he was arrested in Operation Millstone, expressed his “passions for cannibalism and bestiality“. According to Greenville County Sheriff Will Lewis (source), Bensing said he wanted to “cannibalise” a child after turning her into a “full time baby maker and sex slave”, and he intended to make his victim drink her own urine.

Justin Teeter Bensing was arrested on 14 February, and released from jail two days later, with a $20,000 bond. Despite the shocking claims in his arrest warrant, he only faced two charges of “criminal solicitation of a minor”. He pleaded guilty to both charges.

In the end, Justin Teeter Bensing was sentenced to 10 years in prison, with that time suspended to five years’ probation. Bensing’s attorney – James Brehm, told The Greenville News that his client was only joking about the cannibalism.

That didn’t have anything to do with this. It was just like you and I talking trash and texting and six months later, someone gets a hold of your phone and tie it to what he’s charged with.

Bensing’s father previously told The Associated Press that “any charges of cannibalism are not correct.”

Fact #5 : Most Of Them Were Not Pedophiles

I should point out that pedophilia is defined as sexual attraction to prepubescent children, which typically excludes teenagers. Even the looser psychiatric diagnostic criteria only extends that definition to 13 years of age.

As such, many of those who were charged with criminal solicitation of a minor do not appear to meet that definition. Even Justin Teeter Bensing was found to have attempted to meet a 14 year-old girl (who was really a law enforcement officer). The fake girl is a minor, of course, but he would not meet even the looser psychiatric definition of a pedophile.

Out of the list, it appears that only 7 people were charged with attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor victim 11 to 14 years of age, and could possibly be considered as pedophiles.

Fact #6 : The People’s Voice Is Known For Fake News

The People’s Voice is the current name for NewsPunch, which possibly changed its name because its brand has been so thoroughly discredited after posting numerous shocking but fake stories.

Founded as Your News Wire in 2014, it was rebranded as NewsPunch in November 2018, before becoming The People’s Voice. A 2017 BuzzFeed report identified NewsPunch as the second-largest source of popular fake news on Facebook that year.

Its articles have been regularly debunked as fake news, so you should never share anything from NewsPunch / The People’s Voice.  Here are some of its fake stories that I fact checked earlier:
