Baskin-Robbins shut down their 1 Utama outlet today, after an employee there tested positive for COVID-19.

Baskin-Robbins 1 Utama : One Employee Positive For COVID-19
On 25 October 2020, Baskin-Robbins announced that an employee at their 1 Utama outlet tested positive for COVID-19.
That employee who last worked on 22 October 2020 before reporting symptoms, and was discharged from work and placed under quarantine.
He tested positive today, 25 October 2020, and is currently under treatment in a government hospital.
Baskin-Robbins immediately ordered the following measures, in accordance with MOH guidelines :
- Baskin-Robbins 1 Utama was immediately shut down for disinfection
- All exposed food and packaging were discarded
- All colleagues in close contact with the affected employee were placed in self-quarantine, and are being tested.
- All colleagues in contact with the secondary contact were identified and issued a paid, stay-at-home order while awaiting their test results
- Those deemed at a higher risk are taking a test proactively, fully funded by Baskin-Robbins.
Baskin-Robbins 1 Utama will remain closed until a new team is deployed, after testing negative on their PCR tests.
This is the third 1 Utama outlet to close because of COVID-19 exposure, after 1 Utama reopened on 17 October 2020.

Baskin-Robbins 1 Utama COVID-19 Exposure : Should You Be Concerned?
As per MOH guidelines, they will be performing contact tracing, and contacting those who came in close contact with the affected employees.
If you happened to be in close contact with the employee from 18 to 22 October 2020, you will be contacted and asked to undergo self-quarantine and a screening test.
This infection reinforces the importance of contact tracing, and the MySejahtera mobile app which logs the movements of its users.
While public premises offer physical logbooks, we highly recommend that you use the MySejahtera mobile app, because it allows for easier and faster contact tracing.
Using the MySejahtera mobile app also obviates the need to sign a physical logbook, which usually means using a shared pen – an unnecessary risk factor.
The SARS-CoV-2 virus is easily destroyed by soap, so the deep cleaning operation will definitely clean the outlet of any infectious particles.
But most important of all – we need to remember to always wear a face mask in public. Face masks have been proven to prevent the spread and reduce the risk of being infected.

Official Statement Regarding Covid-19
At Baskin-Robbins Malaysia, the safety and well-being of our customers and employees is a top priority. It saddens us to hear that one team member from Baskin-Robbins One Utama has tested positive for COVID-19.
Our team member, who last worked on October 22nd, is currently under the care of a government hospital. Upon reporting symptoms, he was immediately discharged from work and is in quarantine since.
As such, all the following measures have been enforced immediately, in accordance with the guidelines from the MOH:
-B-R One Utama was immediately closed down for disinfection
-All exposed food and packaging were discarded
-All colleagues who were in close contact with the affected team member are in self-quarantine and currently being tested
-A separate new team will be deployed to the store only after testing negative (PCR)
Furthermore, we are taking extra precautionary measures in an abundance of caution and in the best interest of our people:
-All colleagues who were in contact with the secondary contact have been identified and issued a paid stay-at-home order while awaiting for the test results
-Among them, those with higher risk are taking a test proactively, fully funded by the company
We are fully committed to protect our frontliners and customers at all costs. We believe our emphasis on the importance of team members reporting their illness and not coming to work if unwell has allowed us to stop the spread further. Here are a few simple steps to stay safe :
- Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
- Avoid public events and crowds
- Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
- Keep our home, office, vehicles, etc. clean
- If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
- Wash your food with water (and soap) after purchase and before preparation
