At 2 pm today, Malaysians will march once again for free and fair elections. For those of you who cannot make it, we will be covering the Bersih 4 rally “live”, thanks to friends and volunteers on the ground who will be sending us reports, pictures and videos, which we will post in this page as and when they come in.
If you are going for the Bersih 4 rally and would like to contribute to our effort, please let us know. We need as many sources as possible, because the government is likely to deploy mobile network jammers like they did in Bersih 3.
The more sources we have, the more likely that some of the reports, pictures or videos will get through. So let us know if you can help us cover Bersih 4!
Don’t Wear Your Bersih 4 T-Shirts
As you probably know by now, the Deputy Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, has ordered a ban of yellow attire with the phrase Bersih 4 printed on them. The policemen manning the roadblocks will likely be ordered to look for and arrest those who are wearing yellow attired printed with the phrase Bersih 4.
It would be a very good idea to keep your Bersih 4 t-shirt in a bag, and travel to the starting points wearing nondescript clothes. You can then change into your Bersih 4 t-shirt when you arrive at one of the 5 starting points. If you are asked to show the contents of your bag, politely ask the police officer if you are being charged with any crime or accused of one. If not, politely point out to him that he does not have the right to search your belongings.
Please Stay Together
Although death threats have been made, there is safety in numbers. So make sure you follow the group. Do NOT go off wandering by yourself. This is NOT a scenic tour, as some people might have you believe. Follow these instructions :
For those who cannot read Malay, here is an English translation :
2. Do NOT bring flares, smoke bombs, firecrackers or weapons
3. Do NOT bring children
4. Do NOT enter Dataran Merdeka, or break through any barricades
5. Follow the orders of the members of the safety units
6. Do NOT provoke anyone or entertain any provocation
7. Do NOT try to be clever
8. Please disperse if ordered to do so by the Bersih organisers
9. Do NOT litter

After you gather at Sogo, Pasar Seni, Menara Maybank, Brickfields and the National Mosque, make sure you wait for instructions before heading to Dataran Merdeka.
Also, you must all remember to stop outside Dataran Merdeka because the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Mohd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz refused to allow Bersih 4 participants to gather in Dataran Merdeka. Do not give them any excuse to accuse Bersih 4 participants of “breaking the law“.
Be Nice!
Please remember that everyone there is a fellow Malaysian. That includes the policemen, the FRU men and even the Special Branch officers hiding in the crowd. Do NOT look upon these men as the enemy. They are OUR FELLOW MALAYSIANS.
When you go to Bersih 4 tomorrow, do not bring a sour attitude. BRING A SMILE. Bring flowers. Bring the Malaysian flag.
Please remember that Bersih is not about politics. Bersih is about free and fair elections for ALL Malaysians. No matter which part of the political spectrum we all belong to, I think we can all agree that our elections should be free and fair!
