Did Boston Dynamics just introduce a fighting robot that could replace soldiers on the battlefield?!
Take a look at the viral video, and find out what the facts really are!

Truth : That Is Not A Boston Dynamics Fighting Robot!
This is yet another example of fake TikTok videos, and here are the reasons why…
Fact #1 : Boston Dynamics Does Not Have A TikTok Account
First of all, I should just point out that Boston Dynamics does not have a TikTok account. It only has a YouTube channel.
Fact #2 : Fighting Robot Video Was CGI Generated
The @boston_dynamics TikTok account is a parody account called Botsom_Dynamics – a play on the name of the famed American robotics company.
That TikTok channel post robotics-related videos, but a number of obviously computer-generated graphics videos. But even if you didn’t know that, you can see that the video was CGI generated, if you look and listen carefully.
For example, when the robot does a backflip, you can hear its landing thump just before its feet actually hit the ground. There is also an odd “pow” sound effect when the robot makes a punch. Even worse – for all of its explosive moves, the robot does not kick up any dust, or damage the ground or grass in any way.
And if you look carefully, the entire robot actually floats over the ground a second before the video ends. This only appears in the original 11 second-long video which I uploaded above. The viral video clip on Twitter appears to cut out that part, and is much shorter at just 6 seconds.
Fact #3 : That Is Not The Boston Dynamics Atlas Robot
The robot in the viral video looks superficially like the Atlas robot that Boston Dynamics showed off in 2011. But if you look carefully, you will see that it really isn’t the Atlas.
For one thing – Atlas has a prominent Boston Dynamics logo on its front carapace, which is a two-piece design. The real Atlas also has a white webbed frame at the back.
The fake fighting robot has a one-piece front carapace without any logo, and a covered black back. The design of this CGI fighting robot was likely simplified to make it easier and faster to create and render.

Fact #4 : Boston Dynamics Forbid Using Their Robots As Weapons
Finally, I think it is important to note that Boston Dynamics refuses to partner with anyone who wishes to use their robots as weapons or autonomous targeting systems, as part of their Ethical Principles.
We will not weaponize our robots
We will not authorize nor partner with those who wish to use our robots as weapons or autonomous targeting systems. If our products are being used for harm, we will take appropriate measures to mitigate that misuse.
In addition, Boston Dynamics customers are prohibited from using their robots as weapons or autonomous targeting systems. Their Terms and Conditions of Sale specifically prohibits weaponising their robots.
We pledge that we will not weaponize our advanced-mobility general-purpose robots or the software we develop that enables advanced robotics and we will not support others to do so. When possible, we will carefully review our customers’ intended applications to avoid potential weaponization. We also pledge to explore the development of technological features that could mitigate or reduce these risks
