The rumours that CIMB shut down their Kota Damansara branch due to COVID-19, like UOB Kepong did today are FALSE. Here are the facts…

 

Rumours : CIMB Kota Damansara Closed Because Of COVID-19

This rumour has been circulating on social media, particularly WhatsApp groups, claiming a large number of COVID-19 cases at UOB and CIMB :

The rumours are FALSE. Only one COVID-19 case has been confirmed – the employee of UOB Kepong. The other five individuals are still awaiting their tests.

 

CIMB Kota Damansara : NOT Closed Because Of COVID-19

CIMB confirmed that their Kota Damansara branch will open as normal. They clarified that five of their Mobile Sales Force team was in close proximity with a COVID-19 positive patient – presumably the employee of UOB Kepong.

However, these five potentially exposed CIMB employees were not in contact with CIMB Kota Damansara staff branch, as they are based in separate floors.

Instead of shutting down the branch for two weeks, as UOB Kepong just did, the CIMB Kota Damansara branch will undergo sanitation and deep cleaning tonight.

It will reopen as normal on 23 September 2020.

 

CIMB Kota Damansara : Press Statement On COVID-19 Rumours

Here is the statement that CIMB posted addressing the COVID-19 rumours about their Kota Damansara branch :

We wish to inform you that our CIMB Kota Damansara branch is open as usual.

Five staff from CIMB Mobile Sales Force (“MSF”), Kota Damansara who have been in close proximity with a confirmed COVID-19 patient are now in Sungai Buloh Hospital for COVID-19 testing. These five MSF staff have not been in contact with CIMB Kota Damansara branch staff. The branch and MSF centre are in separate floors of the same building.

As a precautionary measure, the Kota Damansara branch building will undergo thorough sanitisation and deep cleaning tonight to ensure the health and safety of our customers and branch staff.

COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe!

Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :

  • Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
  • Avoid public events and crowds
  • Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
  • Keep our home, office, vehicles, etc. clean
  • If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
  • Wash your food with water (and soap) after purchase and before preparation
