Who Qualifies For Home Surveillance?

In Malaysia, home surveillance is conducted on people who have been identified as :

What Happens During Home Surveillance?

  1. The first sample for COVID-19 testing will be taken at the screening centre.
  2. The District Health Office (DHO) will issue order for Home Surveillance for 14 days.
  3. You will need to sign two sets of the Order for Supervision and Observation at Home form.
    – One copy to be kept by the Person Under Surveillance
    – The second copy to be kept as a record in the Operations Room of District Health Office.
  4. You must strictly follow the Home Surveillance order, and contact the DHO team if you are felling unwell, or develop symptoms
  5. You will be given instructions on what to do, and not to do.
  6. You will also be given a Home Assessment Tool (HAT) for self monitoring at home.
  7. The DHO will call / visit you daily to monitor your health status.
  8. At the end of the home surveillance order, the DHO will issue a Form for Release From Undergoing Supervision and Observation Order at Home

How Does MOH Define Close Contact?

Here in Malaysia, the Ministry of Health defines a close contact as :

  • Healthcare-associated exposure without appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
This includes those providing direct care to COVID-19 patents, or working with healthcare personnel infected with COVID-19
  • Working together in close proximity, or sharing an enclosed environment with a confirmed COVID-19 case.
  • Travelling together with a confirmed COVID-19 case in any kind of transportation.
  • Living in the same household with a confirmed COVID-19 case.
