553 COVID-19 Cases In Malaysia : 125 NEW Cases Today!

Malaysia today recorded 125 new COVID-19 cases, a drop from 190 cases yesterday. This raises the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 553.

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 125 New Cases Today!

As of 12 PM today, the Malaysia Ministry of Health also announced that they identified 125 new COVID-19 casesCases 429 to 553.

Here is the breakdown of the 125 new cases, according to states :

Based on their preliminary investigations, the majority of these new cases – 95 to be exact – are related to the Tabligh gathering held at the Seri Petaling mosque.

They also reported that there are now TWELVE (`2) COVID-19 cases in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit), requiring ventilation support.

COVID-19 In Malaysia : Late Containment Phase

Based on the current situation, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that Malaysia is currently in the late containment phase (Phase 3) of the COVID-19 outbreak.

In this phase, their main goal will be to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in Malaysia from becoming more serious.

Concurrently, the Malaysia Ministry of Health is also preparing to enter the mitigation phase (Phase 4). Some of the measures they have undertaken include :

  1. Designating the Sungai Buloh Hospital as the dedicated admitting hospital for confirmed COVID-19 cases;
  2. Strengthening the capacity and capabilities of laboratories for COVID-19 testing;
  3. Identifying quarantine centres throughout the country; and
  4. Collaborating with Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and private healthcare facilities in managing COVID-19 cases.

The Malaysia Ministry of Health is looking for those who attended the Ijtimak Tabligh at the Seri Petaling Mosque from 28 February to 1 March 2020.

COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe!

Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :

  • Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
  • Avoid public events and crowds
  • Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
  • Keep our home, office, vehicles, etc. clean
  • If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
  • Thoroughly cook your food, and boil water before drinking
