COVID-19 in Malaysia : 3333 Cases, 217 New, 3 More Dead

Malaysia today recorded 217 new COVID-19 cases and THREE deaths, but also discharged 60 patients who have fully recovered!

Here are the COVID-19 updates for Malaysia on 3 April 2020…

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 60 More Patients Recovered!

As of 12 PM today, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 60 patients have fully recovered, and been discharged from hospital – the most in a single day!

That means a total of 827 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far!

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 217 New Cases!

They identified 217 new COVID-19 cases today – bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 3333, with 2,453 active cases.

Out of those new cases, 58 cases were confirmed related to the Tabligh congregation in Seri Petaling, while 41 cases were related to the Tahfiz religious school.

They also shared that the number of COVID-19 cases in the ICU increased to 108, with no change in the number of patients requiring respiratory support – 54 at the current count.

Here is the breakdown of cases, according to states. Selangor maintains the highest total at 863 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 543 cases, and Johor with 416 cases.

COVID-19 In Malaysia : THREE Deaths Today

The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced THREE deaths today, which means a total of 53 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 1.59%.

51st Death : Case 2561 was a 84 year-old Malaysian female, with a history of heart disease. She was treated at the Sungai Buloh Hospital on 12 March 2020, and then transferred to the National Heart Institute. However, she passed away on 2 April 2020 at 1:07 PM.

52nd Death : Case 2122 was a 52 year-old Malaysian male, who was treated at the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Negeri Sembilan on 18 March 2020, but passed away on 3 April 2020 at 7:55 AM.

53rd Death : Case 2034 was a 73 year-old Malaysian female with a history of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and kidney disease. He was treated at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Perak on 24 March 2020, but passed away on 3 April 2020, at 9:30 AM.

Day 17 Of Movement Control Order In Malaysia

Today marks the 17th day of the nationwide lockdown on travel, work and business in Malaysia, which has been extended until 14 April, 2020.

During this time, all government and private offices and businesses will be closed, except those providing essential services.

Although there are no restrictions on travel within Malaysia during this lockdown, you will have nowhere to go, as all shops will be closed, except supermarkets, grocery shops and convenience stores selling essential items.

Schools, colleges, universities, cinemas, and so on, will also be closed. Cafes and restaurants will be closed for dine-in patrons, but you will be able to take-away food, or have them delivered to you.

The Malaysian government has also announced three Enhanced MCOs :

Menara City One : 31 March until 13 April 2020
Hulu Langat : 30 March until 13 April 2020
Two areas in Simpang Renggam : 27 March until 9 April 2020.

COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe!

Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :

Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
Avoid public events and crowds
Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
Keep our home, office, vehicles, etc. clean
If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
Wash your food with water (and soap) after purchase and before preparation
