COVID-19 in Malaysia : 4346 Cases, 1830 Healed, 70 Dead

Malaysia today recorded 118 new COVID-19 cases and THREE deaths, but also discharged 222 patients who have fully recovered!

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 222 More Patients Recovered!

As of 5 PM today, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 222 patients have fully recovered, and were discharged today!

That means a total of 1830 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 42.1%.

 

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 118 New Cases!

They identified 118 new COVID-19 cases today – bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 4346, with 2446 active cases.

They also shared that the number of COVID-19 cases in the ICU dropped to 69, with three fewer patients requiring respiratory support – 40 at the current count.

Here is the breakdown of cases, according to states. Selangor maintains the highest total at 1,148 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 713 cases, and Johor with 523 cases.

 

COVID-19 In Malaysia : THREE Deaths Today

The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced THREE deaths today, which means a total of 70 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 1.61%.

68th Death : Case 694 was a 62 year-old Malaysian male, a close contact of Case 159 who attended the Tabligh congregation. He had a history of diabetes, and was admitted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Sabah on 17 March 2020, but passed away on 10 April 2020 at 8:21 AM.

69th Death : Case 4229 was a 77 year-old Malaysian male with a history of diabetes. He was admitted to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital on 27 March 2020, but passed away on 10 April 2020 at 4:00 AM.

70th Death : Case 4230 was a 88 year-old Malaysian female with a history of hypertension, heart disease and dementia. She was a close contact of Case 1684, and was admitted to the University Malaya Medical Centre on 20 March 2020, but passed away on 10 April 2020 at 2:38 AM.

Day 24 Of Movement Control Order In Malaysia

Today marks the 24th day of the nationwide lockdown on travel, work and business in Malaysia, which has today been extended until 28 April, 2020.

During this time, all government and private offices and businesses will be closed, except those providing essential services.

Malaysians are to restrict their movement during this lockdown, with only a single person in each vehicle. All shops are also closed, except supermarkets, grocery shops and convenience stores selling essential items.

Schools, colleges, universities, cinemas, and so on, remain closed. Cafes and restaurants will be closed for dine-in patrons, but you will be able to take-away food, or have them delivered to you.

The Malaysian government has so far announced four Enhanced MCOs :

• Selangor Mansion + Malayan Mansion : 7 April 2020 indefinitely
• Menara City One : 31 March until 13 April 2020

• Two areas in Simpang Renggam : 27 March until 9 April 2020.

 

COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe!

Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :

• Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
• Avoid public events and crowds
• Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
• Keep our home, office, vehicles, etc. clean
• If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
• Wash your food with water (and soap) after purchase and before preparation
