COVID-19 in Malaysia : 5482 Cases, 3349 Healed, 92 Dead

Malaysia today recorded 57 new COVID-19 cases and THREE deaths, but also discharged 54 patients who have fully recovered!

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 54 More Patients Recovered!

As of 5:30 PM today, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 54 patients have fully recovered, and were discharged today!

That means a total of 3349 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 61.1%.

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 57 New Cases!

They identified 57 new COVID-19 cases today, raising the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 5482, with 2041 active cases.

They also shared that the number of COVID-19 cases in the ICU dropped further to 43, with one fewer patient requiring respiratory support – 27 at the current count.

Here is the breakdown of cases, according to states. Selangor maintained the highest total at 1,356 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 1,021 cases, and Johor with 645 cases.

COVID-19 In Malaysia : THREE Deaths Today

The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced THREE (3) deaths today, which means a total of 92 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 1.68%.

COVID-19 in Malaysia : 224 Healthcare Workers Infected

Death #90 : Case 2050 was a 72 year-old Malaysian female, who was a close contact (mother) of Case 2053. She had a history of diabetes and hypertension. She was admitted to the Sungai Buloh Hospital on 27 March 2020, but passed away on 20 April 2020 at 1:47 PM.

Death #91 : Case 4090 was a 69 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of diabetes, hypertension and kidney disease. He was treated at the Sarawak General Hospital on 6 April 2020, but passed away on 21 April 2020 at 2:28 AM.

Death #92 : Case 5332 was a 92 year-old Malaysian male, who was a close contact of Case 4711. He had a history of diabetes, hypertension and dementia. He was admitted to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital on 8 April 2020, but passed away on 21 April 2020 at 1:30 AM.

Day 35 Of Movement Control Order In Malaysia

Today marks the 35th day of the nationwide lockdown on travel, work and business in Malaysia, which on 10 April was further extended until 28 April, 2020. It is also the 6th day of the third phase of the MCO.

During this time, all government and private offices and businesses will be closed, except those providing essential services.

COVID-19 Malaysia Lockdown summary

Malaysians are to restrict their movement during this lockdown, with only a single person in each vehicle. All shops are also closed, except supermarkets, grocery shops and convenience stores selling essential items.

Schools, colleges, universities, cinemas, and so on, remain closed. Cafes and restaurants will be closed for dine-in patrons, but you will be able to take-away food, or have them delivered to you.

Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :

  • Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
  • Avoid public events and crowds
  • Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
  • Keep our home, office, vehicles, etc. clean
  • If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
  • Wash your food with water (and soap) after purchase and before preparation
