COVID-19 Malaysia : 8494 Cases, 7400 Recovered, 121 Dead

Malaysia today recorded 41 new COVID-19 cases and NO death, and discharged 54 patients who have fully recovered!

Here are the COVID-19 updates for Malaysia on 15 June 2020…

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 54 More Patients Recovered!

At 5:30 PM today, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 54 patients have fully recovered, and were discharged today!

That means a total of 7,400 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 87.1%.

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 41 New Cases!

They identified 41 new COVID-19 cases today.

3 cases were imported from overseas – all from Singapore
6 local cases of Malaysian citizens
– Selangor : 1 case from an elderly care center in Kuala Selangor, 1 close contact of Case 8294
– Melaka : 1 close contact of Case 7817, 1 case from a tahfiz school
– Negeri Sembilan : 1 case from a tahfiz school
– Sabah : 1 close contact of Case 8403 / Death 119
32 local case was non-Malaysian
– KL : 1 case from a cleaning company’s employee screening program
– Negeri Sembilan : 14 cases are illegal immigrant detainees transferred from the Bukit Jalil DTI to the Malaysia Immigration Academy, 15 cases from the Pedas cluster, and 2 cases from a cleaning company cluster

This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 8494, with 973 active cases – a decrease of 13 active cases, and the second day the number dropped below 1000 after the MCO started.

They also shared that the number of COVID-19 cases in the ICU maintained at 4, with NO patient requiring respiratory support!

Here is the breakdown of cases, according to states (as of 8 June). Kuala Lumpur is firmly at the top with 2,394 cases, followed by Selangor with 1,968 cases, and Negeri Sembilan with 911 cases.

COVID-19 In Malaysia : NO Death Today

The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced NO death today, which means a total of 121 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 1.42%.

Day 6 Of Recovery Movement Control Order In Malaysia

Today marks the 6th day of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) which will last until 31 August, 2020.

Under RMCO, most businesses are allowed to reopen, with a new normal of restrictions on social distancing and other measures.

Interstate travel is now allowed (except to Enhanced MCO / administrative restricted areas), as well as many sports facilities. However, entertainment outlets, theme parks and cinemas are still not allowed.

The Malaysian government has so far announced eight Enhanced MCOs :

3 Zones In PJ Old Town : 10 May until 23 May 2020
6 Parcels In Selayang Baru : 25 April until 3 May 2020
8 Parcels In Pusat Bandar Utara : 20 April until 3 May 2020
Whole Masjid India Area : 14 April until 28 April 2020
Selangor Mansion + Malayan Mansion : 7 April 2020 indefinitely
Menara City One : 31 March until 13 April 2020
Hulu Langat : 30 March until 13 April 2020
Two areas in Simpang Renggam : 27 March until 9 April 2020

They also announced Administrative Enhanced MCO for two areas in Banting, a section of Chow Kit, some residential areas in Selayang and Pudu.

COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe!

Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :

Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
Avoid public events and crowds
Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
Keep our home, office, vehicles, etc. clean
If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
Wash your food with water (and soap) after purchase and before preparation
