Malaysia today reported 14 new COVID-19 casesONE death, and discharged 21 patients who fully recovered!

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 21 More Patients Recovered!

At 5 PM today, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 21 patients fully recovered, and were discharged today!

That means a total of 9,075 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 97.0%.

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 14 New Cases!

They identified 14 new COVID-19 cases today :

  • 5 cases imported from overseas
    – 3 cases in Selangor : all foreigners from Ukraine, Indonesia and Pakistan
    – 2 cases in Sabah : both foreigners from the Philippines
  • 5 local cases involving Malaysian citizens
    – 3 cases in Sabah : two cases of screening in jail and lockup, and one case of SARI (Severe Acute Respiratory Illness) screening
    – 2 cases in Kedah : one case each from the Tawar and Telaga Clusters.
  • 4 local cases involving foreigners
    – all four cases in Sabah : screening of lockup prisoners.

This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 9354, with 151 active cases – a drop of 8 cases, and the 15th day Malaysia remained below 200 active cases for the 3rd time during the RMCO period.

They also shared that there is one less patient in the ICU – 5 cases right now, and one less patient requiring respiratory support – 3 cases right now.

Here is the breakdown of cases, according to states. Kuala Lumpur is at the top with 2,587 cases, followed by Selangor with 2,174 cases, and Negeri Sembilan with 1,034 cases.

 

COVID-19 In Malaysia : ONE Death Today

The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced ONE death today, which means a total of 128 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 1.37%.

Death #128 : Case 9174 was an 80 year-old Malaysian female with a history of lung cancer and hypertension. She was one of the positive cases from the Tawar Cluster reported on 15 August 2020.

She started experiencing a fever and chest pain on 6 August, and was admitted to a medical centre. On 14 August 2020, she was transferred to the Penang Hospital after being diagnosed positive for COVID-19.

Her condition deteriorated and she was placed on a respirator since 24 August 2020, but passed away on 1 September 2020 at 10:38 AM.

Day 82 Of Recovery Movement Control Order In Malaysia

Today marks the 82nd day of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) which will last until 31 December, 2020.

Under RMCO, most businesses are allowed to reopen, with a new normal of restrictions on social distancing and other measures.

Malaysia RMCO Liberalisation : What Is Allowed / Not Allowed?

Interstate travel is now allowed (except to Enhanced MCO / administrative restricted areas), as well as many sports facilities. However, entertainment outlets, theme parks and cinemas are still not allowed.

The Malaysian government has so far announced eight Enhanced MCOs :

They also announced Administrative Enhanced MCO for two areas in Banting, a section of Chow Kit, some residential areas in Selayang and Pudu.

 

COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe!

Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :

  • Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
  • Avoid public events and crowds
  • Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
  • Keep our home, office, vehicles, etc. clean
  • If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
  • Wash your food with water (and soap) after purchase and before preparation
