Malaysia today reported 82 new COVID-19 cases, but NO death, and discharged 168 patients who fully recovered!

COVID-19 Malaysia : 10,358 Cases, 9563 Healed, 130 Dead

 

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 168 More Patients Recovered!

At 5 PM today, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 168 patients fully recovered, and were discharged today!

That means a total of 9,563 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 92.3%.

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 82 New Cases!

They identified 82 new COVID-19 cases today :

  • 10 cases imported from overseas
    – 9 cases in KL : all Malaysian citizens from India
    – 1 case in Sarawak : foreigner from Indonesia
  • 49 local cases involving Malaysian citizens
    – 37 cases in Sabah : 34 from LD Benteng Cluster, 5 from Pulau Cluster, 3 from Selamat Cluster, 4 from Bangau-Bangau Cluster, 1 from community screening, 1 from referral to Queen Elizabeth Hospital
    – 10 cases in Kedah : 9 from Sungai Cluster, 1 from EMCO screening
    – 1 case in Selangor : pre-surgical screening
    – 1 case in Sarawak : screening of symptomatic case
  • 23 local cases involving foreigners
    – all cases in Sabah : 7 from LD Benteng Cluster, 1 from Pulau Cluster, 3 from Selamat Cluster, 1 from Bangau-Bangau Cluster

This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 10,358, with 665 active cases – a drop of 86 cases, and the 12th day Malaysia has above 500 active cases for the 1st time during the RMCO period.

They also shared that there is no change in patients in the ICU – 9 cases right now, and no change in patients requiring respiratory support – 2 cases right now.

Here is the breakdown of cases, according to states. Kuala Lumpur is at the top with 2,645 cases, followed by Selangor with 2,215 cases, Sabah with 1,189 cases, and Negeri Sembilan with 1,044 cases.

 

New Bangau-Bangau Cluster

The Bangau-Bangau (Crane) Cluster is a new COVID-19 cluster identified today in Semporna, Sabah.

This cluster was identified from a screening of a patient admitted to Semporna Hospital.

A total of 5 cases (Cases 10340 to 10344) have been confirmed COVID-19 positive on 21 September 2020. They have all been admitted to the Semporna Hospital for treatment.

As of 12 PM, 22 September 2020, a total of 97 individuals were screened with these results :

  • 5 positive cases
  • 92 individuals still waiting for results

Sungai Cluster Update

The Sungai Cluster continues to generate new cases in Kedah. As of 12 PM on 22 September 2020, 9 new cases were reported out of 24,744 screenings :

Kedah

  • 9 new positive cases, 82 cases total
  • 24,205 negative individuals
  • 268 individuals awaiting results

Penang

  • 142 negative individuals

Perlis

  • 1 positive case total
  • 44 negative individuals
  • 2 individuals awaiting results

The LD Benteng Cluster continues to generate new cases. As of 12 PM on 22 September 2020, 41 new cases were detected out of 10,045 screenings :

  • 40 new cases, 466 cases total
  • 5,109 negative individuals
  • 1,967 individuals waiting for their results

Lahad Datu

  • 1 new case, 157 cases total
  • 1,490 negative individuals
  • 855 individuals waiting for their results

Sandakan

  • 1 case in total

Out of all 10,045 screenings carried out :

  • 1,735 prisoners : 514 positive
  • 1,159 prison + IPD staff : 24 positive
  • 1,394 close contacts of staff family and prisoners : 26 positive
  • 1,482 government officers (others) : 0 positive
  • 4,275 social contacts : 59 positive

The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced NO death today, which means a total of 130 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 1.27%.

Day 103 Of COVID-19 RMCO In Malaysia

Today marks the 103rd day of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) which will last until 31 December, 2020.

Under RMCO, most businesses are allowed to reopen, with a new normal of restrictions on social distancing and other measures.

COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe!

Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :

  • Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
  • Avoid public events and crowds
  • Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
  • Keep our home, office, vehicles, etc. clean
  • If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
  • Wash your food with water (and soap) after purchase and before preparation
