Malaysia today reported 150 new COVID-19 cases and 1 death, and discharged 50 patients who fully recovered!

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 50 More Patients Recovered!

At 5 PM today, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 50 patients fully recovered, and were discharged today!

That means a total of 9,835 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 90.1%.

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 150 New Cases!

They identified 150 new COVID-19 cases today :

  • 4 cases imported from overseas
    – 3 cases in KL : 1 Malaysian citizen + 1 foreigner from Saudi Arabia, 1 Malaysian citizen from India
  • 124 local cases involving Malaysian citizens
    – 102 cases in Sabah : 55 from LD Benteng Cluster, 12 from Bangau-Bangau Cluster, 4 from Bakau Cluster, 9 from Pulau Cluster, 8 from new Kg. Sakong Cluster, 3 from new Buang Sayang Cluster, 8 from screening of symptomatic cases, 1 from community screening, 1 from close contact screening of Case 10359, 1 screening before returning to Sarawak
    – 10 cases in Selangor : 8 from screening of returnees from high-risk area (Sabah) , 2 from screening of close contacts to Case 10364 and Case 10579.
    – 4 cases in Pahang : 3 from screening of returnees from high-risk area (Sabah), 1 from close contact screening of Case 10679
    – 3 cases in KL : 2 from new Setapak Cluster, 2 from screening of returnees from high-risk area (Sabah)
    – 2 cases in Johor : screening of returnees from high-risk area (Sabah)
    – 2 cases in Sarawak : screening of workers at the Immigration Quarantine Security (IQS) Merapok, Lawas.
    – 1 case in Melaka : screening of returnee from high-risk area (Sabah)
  • 22 local cases involving foreigners
    – all cases in Sabah : 9 from Bakau Cluster, 8 from Bangau-Bangau Cluster, 3 from LD Benteng Cluster, 1 from Pulau Cluster, 1 from ILI screening
    – 1 case in Selangor : screening of prisoner
    – 1 case in Negeri Sembilan : screening before returning to home country

This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 10,919, with 950 active cases – an increase of 99 cases, and the 17th day Malaysia has above 500 active cases for the 1st time during the RMCO period.

They also shared that there are two fewer patients in the ICU – 6 cases right now, and no change in patients requiring respiratory support – 4 cases right now.

Here is the breakdown of cases, according to states. Kuala Lumpur is at the top with 2,664 cases, followed by Selangor with 2,235 cases, Sabah with 1,671 cases, and Negeri Sembilan with 1,047 cases.

 

COVID-19 In Malaysia : ONE Death Today

The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced ONE death today, which means a total of 134 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 1.23%.

Death #134 : Case 10,491 was an 81 year-old Malaysian female, who suffered from fever and cough on 14 September 2020, and was taken to the Semporna Hospital on 17 September 2020.

Her COVID-19 screening came back positive on 22 September 2020, and she was transferred to the Tawau Hospital on 26 September 2020.

Her condition deteriorated and she was transferred to the ICU on the same day. Unfortunately, she passed away at 12:52 AM on 27 September 2020.

Day 108 Of COVID-19 RMCO In Malaysia

Today marks the 108th day of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) which will last until 31 December, 2020.

Under RMCO, most businesses are allowed to reopen, with a new normal of restrictions on social distancing and other measures.

Malaysia RMCO Liberalisation : What Is Allowed / Not Allowed?

Interstate travel is now allowed (except to Enhanced MCO / administrative restricted areas), as well as many sports facilities.

The Malaysian government has so far announced several Enhanced MCOs :

They also announced Administrative Enhanced MCO for two areas in Banting, a section of Chow Kit, some residential areas in Selayang and Pudu.

 

COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe!

Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :

  • Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
  • Avoid public events and crowds
  • Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
  • Keep our home, office, vehicles, etc. clean
  • If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
  • Wash your food with water (and soap) after purchase and before preparation
