Malaysia had another record day with 691 new COVID-19 cases and FOUR deaths but discharged 87 patients who fully recovered!
Here are the COVID-19 updates for Malaysia on 6 October 2020…
COVID-19 In Malaysia : 87 More Patients Recovered!
At 5:30 PM today, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 87 patients fully recovered, and were discharged today!
That means a total of 10,427 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 77.2%.
COVID-19 In Malaysia : 691 New Cases!
The surge continues with 691 new COVID-19 cases today – the highest recorded so far
- 3 cases imported from overseas
– 2 cases in KL : Malaysian citizen from India, foreigner from Egypt
– 1 case in Selangor : foreigner from the Philippines - 688 local cases (664 Malaysian citizens, 24 foreigners)
– 397 cases in Kedah : 394 from Tembok Cluster, 3 from Bah Sintok Cluster
– 219 cases in Sabah : 120 from screening of symptomatic cases, 36 from community screening, 30 from Bangau-Bangau Cluster, 19 from new Ramai-Ramai Cluster, 5 from screening of close contacts, 5 from screening of healthcare workers, 4 from workplace screening
– 38 cases in Selangor : 17 from screening of returnees from high-risk area (Sabah), 11 from Jalan Meru Cluster, 9 from screening of close contacts, 1 from Embun Cluster
– 8 cases in Perak : 7 from new Batu Cluster, 1 from screening of returnees from high-risk area (Sabah)
– 7 cases in Negeri Sembilan : all from screening of returnees from high-risk area (Sabah)
– 6 cases in Johor : 3 from screening of returnees from high-risk area (Sabah), 3 from Jalan Meru Cluster
– 4 cases in KL : 1 from screening of returnees from high-risk area (Sabah), 1 from Jalan Meru Cluster, 1 from pre-surgical screening, 1 from screening of close contact
– 3 cases in Sarawak : 1 from screening of returnees from high-risk area (Sabah), 1 from screening at Domestic Port of Entry, 1 from screening of close contact
– 3 cases in Penang : 1 from screening of returnees from high-risk area (Sabah), 1 from SARI screening, 1 from post-mortality screening
– 1 case in Putrajaya : from Selasih Cluster
– 1 case in Terengganu : from screening of returnees from high-risk area (Sabah)
– 1 case in Labuan : screening of returnees from high-risk area (Sabah)
This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 13,504, with 2,936 active cases – a staggering increase of 600 cases, and the 2nd day Malaysia has above 2000 active cases for the 1st time during the Recovery MCO period.
They also shared that there are one fewer patient in the ICU – 31 cases right now, and no additional patients requiring respiratory support – 8 cases right now.
Here is the breakdown of cases, according to states. Sabah is at the top with 2,738 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 2,707 cases, Selangor with 2,451 cases, and Kedah with 1,447 cases.
COVID-19 In Malaysia : FOUR Deaths Today
The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced FOUR deaths today, which means a total of 141 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 1.04%.
Death #138 : Case 11154 was a 60 year-old Malaysian male, who was admitted to the Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sandakan on 25 September. The COVID-19 screening test came back positive on 26 September 2020. His condition deteriorated and he passed away on 4 October 2020 at 6:50 AM.
Death #139 : Case 12431 was a 60 year-old Malaysian male, who sought treatment at the Emergency and Trauma Department at Semporna Hospital on 1 September 2020. His COVID-19 screening test came back positive on 30 October 2020, and he passed away on 4 October 2020 at 5:05 AM.
Death #140 : Case 12432 was a 1 year-old Malaysian baby girl, who was taken to the Emergency and Trauma Department at Semporna Hospital on 1 October 2020. His condition was poor and she required ventilation. A COVID-19 screening test came back positive on 5 October 2020, and he passed away on 5 October 2020 at 4:25 PM.
Death #141 : Case 13067 was an 85 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of hypertension and mental illness. He was found unconscious at 7 AM on 5 September 2020 and brought to the Penang Hospital. He stopped breathing on arrival, and was confirmed dead at 7:50 AM that day. A COVID-19 screening test came back positive.

Day 117 Of COVID-19 RMCO In Malaysia
Today marks the 117th day of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) which will last until 31 December, 2020.
Under RMCO, most businesses are allowed to reopen, with a new normal of restrictions on social distancing and other measures.

Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :
- Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
- Avoid public events and crowds
- Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
- Keep our home, office, vehicles, etc. clean
- If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
