COVID-19 Malaysia : 16220 Cases, 11022 Healed, 159 Dead

Malaysia today reported a sobering 563 new COVID-19 cases and TWO deaths, but also discharged 109 patients who fully recovered!

Here are the COVID-19 updates for Malaysia on 12 October 2020…

 

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 109 Patients Discharged!

At 6 PM today, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 109 patients fully recovered from COVID-19, and were discharged today!

That means a total of 11,022 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 68.0%.

 

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 563 New Cases!

The surge continues with a sobering 563 new COVID-19 cases today

This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 16,220, with 5,039 active cases – a whopping increase of 452 cases, and the first day Malaysia has above 5000 active cases for the 1st time during the Recovery MCO period.

They also shared that there are 8 additional patients in the ICU – 98 cases right now, but no additional patient requiring respiratory support – 29 cases right now.

Here is the breakdown of cases, according to states. Sabah is at the top with 4,621 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 2,782 cases, Selangor with 2,670 cases, and Kedah with 1,679 cases.

 

COVID-19 In Malaysia : TWO Deaths Today

The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced TWO deaths today, which means a total of 159 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 0.98%.

Death #158 : Case 15,947 was an 85 year-old Malaysian female with a history of diabetes, heart disease and chronic lung disease. She passed away in the Tawau Hospital.

Death #159 : Case 15,948 was a 48 year-old Malaysian female who passed away at the Tuaran Hospital.

Day 123 Of COVID-19 RMCO In Malaysia

Today marks the 123rd day of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) which will last until 31 December, 2020.

Under RMCO, most businesses are allowed to reopen, with a new normal of restrictions on social distancing and other measures.

Interstate travel is now allowed (except to Enhanced MCO / administrative restricted areas), as well as many sports facilities.

The Malaysian government has so far announced several Enhanced MCOs :

They also announced Administrative Enhanced MCO for two areas in Banting, a section of Chow Kit, some residential areas in Selayang and Pudu.
