COVID-19 Malaysia : 21363 Cases, 13717 Healed, 190 Dead

Malaysia reported 865 new COVID-19 cases and 3 deaths today, but also discharged 455 patients who fully recovered!

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 455 Patients Discharged!

At 5:30 PM today, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 455 patients fully recovered from COVID-19, and were discharged today!

That means a total of 13,717 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 64.2%.

 

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 865 New Cases!

The surge continues with 865 new COVID-19 cases!

• 7 cases imported from overseas
  – 6 cases in Selangor : 4 from China, 1 each from the US and Qatar
  – 1 case in KL : from Australia
• 865 local cases
  – 643 cases in Sabah : 183 from existing clusters, 343 from close contact screening, 117 from assorted screening.
  – 101 cases in Selangor : 71 from existing clusters, 19 from close contact screening, 2 from screening of returnees from high-risk area, 1 from new Hentian Cluster, 8 from assorted assorted screening.
  – 34 cases in Labuan : 33 from existing clusters, 1 from screening of returnees from high-risk area.
  – 26 cases in Penang : 24 from existing clusters. 2 from close contact screening
  – 18 cases in Perak : 9 from existing clusters, 2 from assorted screening, 7 from assorted screening.
  – 16 cases in Melaka : 11 from new Bukit Cluster, 3 from Immigration Depot detainee screening, 1 from close contact screening, 1 from symptomatic screening
  – 6 cases in KL : 4 from close contact screening, 1 from existing clusters, 1 from screening of returnees from high-risk area
  – 4 cases in Negeri Sembilan : 2 from existing clusters, 2 from close contact screening
  – 3 cases in Kedah : all from existing clusters
  – 3 cases in Putrajaya : all from existing cluster
  – 2 cases in Johor : 1 from existing cluster, 1 from screening of returnees from high-risk area./
  – 1 case in Pahang : symptomatic screening
  – 1 case in Terengganu : from existing cluster

This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 21,363, with 7,456 active cases – a whopping increase of 407 cases, and the second day Malaysia has above 7000 active cases for the first time during the Recovery MCO period.

They also shared that there are 13 additional patients in the ICU – 99 cases right now, and four additional patients requiring respiratory support – 32 cases right now.

Here is the breakdown of cases, according to states. Sabah is at the top with 8,082 cases, followed by Selangor with 3,357 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 2,853 cases, and Kedah with 1,940 cases.

 

COVID-19 In Malaysia : THREE Deaths Today

The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced THREE deaths today, which means a total of 187 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 0.89%.

Death #188 : Case 21,139 was an 85 year-old Malaysian male who passed away at the Tawau Hospital.

Death #189 : Case 21,140 was a 52 year-old foreign male, with a history of diabetes. He died in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Death #190 : Case 21,141 was a 70 year-old Malaysian female, who passed away at the Duchess of Kent Hospital.

Day 130 Of COVID-19 RMCO In Malaysia

Today marks the 130th day of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) which will last until 31 December, 2020.

Under RMCO, most businesses are allowed to reopen, with a new normal of restrictions on social distancing and other measures.

Interstate travel is now allowed (except to Enhanced MCO / administrative restricted areas), as well as many sports facilities.

The Malaysian government has so far announced several Enhanced MCOs :

• 3 Zones In PJ Old Town : 10 May until 23 May 2020
• 6 Parcels In Selayang Baru : 25 April until 3 May 2020
• 8 Parcels In Pusat Bandar Utara : 20 April until 3 May 2020
• Whole Masjid India Area : 14 April until 28 April 2020
• Selangor Mansion + Malayan Mansion : 7 April 2020 indefinitely
• Menara City One : 31 March until 13 April 2020
• Hulu Langat : 30 March until 13 April 2020
• Two areas in Simpang Renggam : 27 March until 9 April 2020
• 28 towns in Kedah + Tawau Prison : 11 September until 25 September 2020
• Lahad Datu, Tawau, Kunak and Semporna : 29 September until 12 October 2020
• Kota Kinabalu, Penampang and Putatan : 7 October indefinitely
• Klang, Sandakan, Papar + Tuaran : 9 October until 23 October 2020

They also announced Administrative Enhanced MCO for two areas in Banting, a section of Chow Kit, some residential areas in Selayang and Pudu.

 

COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe!

Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :

• Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
• Avoid public events and crowds
• Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
• Keep our home, office, vehicles, etc. clean
• If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
• Wash your food with water (and soap) after purchase and before preparation
