Malaysia reported a record 1240 new COVID-19 cases and 7 deaths today, but also discharged 691 patients who fully recovered!

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 691 Patients Discharged!
At 6 PM today, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 691 patients fully recovered from COVID-19, and were discharged today!
That means a total of 17,825 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 64.1%.
COVID-19 In Malaysia : 1240 New Cases!
The surge continues with a record 1240 new COVID-19 cases!
- 2 cases imported from overseas
– 1 case in Selangor : from Russia
– 1 case in Labuan : from Ukraine - 1238 local cases
– 927 cases in Sabah : 511 from existing clusters including new Kapor Cluster, 280 from close contact screening, 136 from assorted screening.
– 176 cases in Selangor : 109 from existing clusters, 34 from close contact screening, 33 from assorted screening
– 61 cases in Penang : 60 from existing clusters, 1 from close contact screening
– 25 cases in Negeri Sembilan : 12 from existing clusters including new Hampar Cluster, 6 from close contact screening, 7 from assorted screening
– 17 cases in KL : 11 from existing clusters, 2 from close contact screening, 4 from assorted screening
– 8 cases in Perak : 6 from existing clusters including new Tapah Prison Cluster, 2 from close contact screening
– 7 cases in Sarawak : 5 from existing clusters, 2 from assorted screening
– 5 cases in Labuan : 1 from existing cluster, 2 from close contact screening, 2 from assorted screening
– 4 cases in Johor : 2 from close contact screening, 1 from existing cluster, 1 from assorted screening
– 3 cases in Kedah : all from existing clusters
– 3 cases in Terengganu : all from existing clusters
– 2 cases in Melaka : all from existing clusters
This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 27,805, with 9,744 active cases – a shocking increase of 542 cases, and the second day Malaysia has above 9000 active cases for the first time during the Recovery MCO period.
They also shared that there are five fewer patients in the ICU – 94 cases right now, and one additional patient requiring respiratory support – 31 cases right now.
Here is the breakdown of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia, according to states. Sabah is at the top with 12,745 cases, followed by Selangor with 4,145 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 2,966 cases, and Kedah with 2,048 cases.
COVID-19 In Malaysia : SEVEN Deaths Today
The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced SEVEN deaths today, which means a total of 236 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 0.86%.
Death #230 : Case 14,925 was a 67 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of sinusitis. He passed away at the Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sabah.
Death #231 : Case 15,854 was a 71 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of diabetes, hypertension and heart disease. He passed away in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Sabah.
Death #232 : Case 16,508 was a 51 year-old Malaysian female, with a history of diabetes, hypertension and dyslipidemia. She passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Sabah.
Death #233 : Case 26,212 was a 61 year-old blind Malaysian male who passed away at the Tuaran Hospital in Sabah.
Death #234 : Case 25,353 was a 50 year-old foreign male, with a history of hypertension, chronic kidney disease and heart disease. He passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Death #235 : Case 27,491 was a 90 year-old foreign female, who passed away at the Duchess of Kent Hospital.
Death #236 : Case 27,492 was a 27 year-old foreign male, who passed away at the Tawau Hospital.

Day 137 Of COVID-19 RMCO In Malaysia
Today marks the 137th day of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) which will last until 31 December, 2020.
Under RMCO, most businesses are allowed to reopen, with a new normal of restrictions on social distancing and other measures.

Interstate travel is now allowed (except to Enhanced MCO / administrative restricted areas), as well as many sports facilities.
The Malaysian government has so far announced several Enhanced MCOs :
- 3 Zones In PJ Old Town : 10 May until 23 May 2020
- 6 Parcels In Selayang Baru : 25 April until 3 May 2020
- 8 Parcels In Pusat Bandar Utara : 20 April until 3 May 2020
- Whole Masjid India Area : 14 April until 28 April 2020
- Selangor Mansion + Malayan Mansion : 7 April 2020 indefinitely
- Menara City One : 31 March until 13 April 2020
- Hulu Langat : 30 March until 13 April 2020
- Two areas in Simpang Renggam : 27 March until 9 April 2020
- 28 towns in Kedah + Tawau Prison : 11 September until 25 September 2020
- Lahad Datu, Tawau, Kunak and Semporna : 29 September until 12 October 2020
- Kota Kinabalu, Penampang and Putatan : 7 October indefinitely
- Klang, Sandakan, Papar + Tuaran : 9 October until 23 October 2020
They also announced Administrative Enhanced MCO for two areas in Banting, a section of Chow Kit, some residential areas in Selayang and Pudu.
COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe!
Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :
- Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
- Avoid public events and crowds
- Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
- Keep our home, office, vehicles, etc. clean
- If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
- Wash your food with water (and soap) after purchase and before preparation
