Malaysia reported 801 new COVID-19 cases and 8 deaths today, but also discharged 573 patients who fully recovered!

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 573 Patients Discharged!

At 6 PM today, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 573 patients fully recovered from COVID-19, and were discharged today!

That means a total of 19,072 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 64.8%.

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 801 New Cases!

The surge continues with 801 new COVID-19 cases!

  • 2 cases imported from overseas
    – 1 case in KL
    : from Iran
    – 1 case in Selangor : from Saudi Arabia
  • 799 local cases
    – 546 cases in Sabah
    : 89 from existing clusters including new Seri Gaya Cluster, 271 from close contact screening, 186 from assorted screening
    – 88 cases in Selangor : 35 from existing clusters, 33 from close contact screening, 20 from assorted screening
    – 29 cases in Labuan : 23 from existing clusters, 2 from close contact screening, 4 from assorted screening
    – 28 cases in Kedah : all from existing clusters
    – 27 cases in Sarawak : 21 from new Greenhill Cluster, 6 from assorted screening
    – 24 cases in Negeri Sembilan : 10 from existing clusters, 12 from close contact screening, 2 from assorted screening
    – 19 cases in Penang : 13 from existing clusters, 4 from close contact screening, 2 from SARI screening
    – 13 cases in KL : 8 from existing clusters including new Idaman Cluster, 2 from close contact screening, 3 from assorted screening
    – 11 cases in Terengganu : all from existing clusters
    – 8 cases in Johor : 7 from existing clusters including 4 from new Bayu Cluster, 1 from assorted screening
    – 6 cases in Perak : 5 from existing clusters, 1 from close contact screening

This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 29,441, with 10,123 active cases – an increase of 220 cases, and the first day Malaysia has above 10,000 active cases for the first time during the Recovery MCO period.

They also shared that there are five additional patients in the ICU – 94 cases right now, and seven fewer patient requiring respiratory support – 25 cases right now.

Here is the breakdown of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia, according to states. Sabah is at the top with 13,701 cases, followed by Selangor with 4,360 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 2,991 cases, and Kedah with 2,080 cases.

 

COVID-19 In Malaysia : EIGHT Deaths Today

The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced EIGHT deaths today, which means a total of 246 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 0.84%.

Death #239 : Case 12,156 was a 66 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of diabetes, hypertension and dyslipidemia. He passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Sabah.

Death #240 : Case 14,415 was a 73 year-old Malaysian female, with a history of chronic lung disease. She passed away at the Tawau Hospital.

Death #241 : Case 15,287 was a 35 year-old foreign female, with a history of hypertension, asthma, dyslipidemia and stroke. She passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Sabah.

Death #242 : Case 29,183 was a 67 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of heart disease and gout. He passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Sabah.

Death #243 : Case 29,185 was a 73 year-old Malaysian female, who passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Sabah.

Death #244 : Case 29,185 was a 70 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of diabetes and hypertension. He passed away at the Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sabah.

Death #245 : Case 29,186 was a 56 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). He passed away at the Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sabah.

Death #246 : Case 28,252 was a 61 year-old Malaysian female, with a history of diabetes and hypertension. She passed away at the Sungai Buloh Hospital in Selangor.

Day 139 Of COVID-19 RMCO In Malaysia

Today marks the 139th day of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) which will last until 31 December, 2020.

Under RMCO, most businesses are allowed to reopen, with a new normal of restrictions on social distancing and other measures.

Interstate travel is now allowed (except to Enhanced MCO / administrative restricted areas), as well as many sports facilities.

The Malaysian government has so far announced several Enhanced MCOs :

They also announced Administrative Enhanced MCO for two areas in Banting, a section of Chow Kit, some residential areas in Selayang and Pudu.

 

COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe!

Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :

  • Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
  • Avoid public events and crowds
  • Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
  • Keep our home, office, vehicles, etc. clean
  • If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
  • Wash your food with water (and soap) after purchase and before preparation
