Malaysia reported 659 new COVID-19 cases, but 0 deaths today and discharged 1000 patients who fully recovered!

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 1000 Patients Discharged!

At 6 PM today, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 1000 patients fully recovered from COVID-19, and were discharged today!

That means a total of 21,248 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 67.4%.

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 659 New Cases!

The surge continues with 659 new COVID-19 cases!

  • 1 case imported from overseas
    – 1 case in Selangor
    : foreigner from Bangladesh
  • 658 local cases
    – 529 cases in Sabah
    : 205 from existing clusters, 203 from close contact screening, 121 from assorted screening
    – 54 cases in Selangor : 18 from existing clusters, 22 from close contact screening, 15 from assorted screening
    – 25 cases in Negeri Sembilan : 16 from existing clusters, 2 from close contact screening, 7 from assorted screening
    – 12 cases in Labuan : 5 from existing clusters, 6 from close contact screening, 1 from assorted screening
    – 11 cases in KL : 9 from existing clusters, 2 from assorted screening
    – 9 cases in Sarawak : 6 from existing clusters, 1 from close contact screening, 2 from assorted screening
    – 6 cases in Perak : 4 from existing clusters, 2 from assorted screening
    – 4 cases in Putrajaya : 2 from existing clusters, 2 from assorted screening
    – 2 cases in Penang : 4 from close contact screening
    – 2 cases in Kedah : all from existing clusters
    – 2 cases in Terengganu : both from existing clusters
    – 1 case in Kelantan : from close contact screening
    – 1 case in Pahang : from existing cluster

Here is the breakdown of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia, according to states. Sabah is at the top with 15,048 cases, followed by Selangor with 4,700 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 3,044 cases, and Kedah with 2,124 cases.

This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 31,548, with 10,051 active cases – a big drop of 341 cases, and the 4th day Malaysia has above 10,000 active cases for the first time during the Recovery MCO period.

They also shared that there are 7 fewer patients in the ICU – 83 cases right now, and one fewer patient requiring respiratory support – 19 cases right now.

 

COVID-19 In Malaysia : NO Death Today

The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced NO death today, which means a total of 249 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 0.79%.

Day 142 Of COVID-19 RMCO In Malaysia

Today marks the 142nd day of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) which will last until 31 December, 2020.

Under RMCO, most businesses are allowed to reopen, with a new normal of restrictions on social distancing and other measures.

Interstate travel is now allowed (except to Enhanced MCO / administrative restricted areas), as well as many sports facilities.

The Malaysian government has so far announced several Enhanced MCOs :

They also announced Administrative Enhanced MCO for two areas in Banting, a section of Chow Kit, some residential areas in Selayang and Pudu.

 

COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe!

Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :

  • Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
  • Avoid public events and crowds
  • Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
  • Keep our home, office, vehicles, etc. clean
  • If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
  • Wash your food with water (and soap) after purchase and before preparation
