Malaysia reported 957 new COVID-19 cases, but 0 deaths today and discharged 972 patients who fully recovered!

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 972 Patients Discharged!

At 6 PM today, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 972 patients fully recovered from COVID-19, and were discharged today!

That means a total of 22,220 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 68.4%.

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 957 New Cases!

The surge continues with 957 new COVID-19 cases!

  • 0 case imported from overseas
  • 957 local cases
    – 644 cases in Sabah
    : 97 from existing clusters, 401 from close contact screening, 146 from assorted screening
    – 225 cases in Selangor : 172 from existing clusters including new Usaha Cluster, 39 from close contact screening, 14 from assorted screening
    – 23 cases in Penang : 17 from existing clusters, 6 from close contact screening
    – 18 cases in Labuan : 13 from existing clusters, 5 from assorted screening
    – 15 cases in Terengganu : all from existing clusters
    – 11 cases in Sarawak : 5 from existing clusters, 3 from close contact screening, 3 from assorted screening
    – 8 cases in Negeri Sembilan : 4 from close contact screening, 2 from existing clusters, 2 from assorted screening
    – 5 cases in Perak : all from existing clusters
    – 4 cases in KL : 3 from close contact screening, 1 from existing cluster
    – 1 case in Kedah : from existing clusters
    – 1 case in Melaka : from assorted screening
    – 1 case in Johor : from assorted screening
    – 1 case in Putrajaya : from close contact screening

Here is the breakdown of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia, according to states. Sabah is at the top with 15,692 cases, followed by Selangor with 4,925 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 3,048 cases, and Kedah with 2,125 cases.

This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 32,505, with 10,036 active cases – a drop of 15 cases, and the 5th day Malaysia has above 10,000 active cases for the first time during the Recovery MCO period.

They also shared that there are 14 additional patients in the ICU – 97 cases right now, and 8 additional patients requiring respiratory support – 27 cases right now.


COVID-19 In Malaysia : NO Death Today

The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced NO death today, which means a total of 249 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 0.77%.

Day 143 Of COVID-19 RMCO In Malaysia

Today marks the 143rd day of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) which will last until 31 December, 2020.

Under RMCO, most businesses are allowed to reopen, with a new normal of restrictions on social distancing and other measures.

Interstate travel is now allowed (except to Enhanced MCO / administrative restricted areas), as well as many sports facilities.

The Malaysian government has so far announced several Enhanced MCOs :

They also announced Administrative Enhanced MCO for two areas in Banting, a section of Chow Kit, some residential areas in Selayang and Pudu.


COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe!

Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :

  • Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
  • Avoid public events and crowds
  • Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
  • Keep our home, office, vehicles, etc. clean
  • If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
  • Wash your food with water (and soap) after purchase and before preparation
