Malaysia reported 1032 new COVID-19 cases and 8 deaths today, but discharged 820 patients who fully recovered!

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 820 Patients Discharged!

At 6 PM today, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 820 patients fully recovered from COVID-19, and were discharged today!

That means a total of 24,815 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 70.1%.

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 1032 New Cases!

The surge continues with 1032 new COVID-19 cases in Malaysia!

  • 3 cases imported from overseas
    – India
    : 1 case
    – Singapore
    : 1 case
    – The Philippines
    : 1 case
  • 1029 local cases
    – 646 cases in Sabah
    : 46 from existing clusters, 54 from new Sandakan Prison, Dialysis and Sepanggar clusters, 367 from close contact screening, 179 from assorted screening
    – 231 cases in Selangor : 153 from existing clusters, 2 from new Aero Cluster, 1 from SARI screening, 40 from close contact screening, 1 from screening of returnees from high-risk area (Sabah), 1 from SARI screening, 34 from assorted screening
    – 44 cases in Negeri Sembilan : 20 from existing clusters, 16 from new Lengkuk Cluster, 1 from close contact screening, 7 from assorted screening
    – 28 cases in Labuan : 6 from existing clusters, 10 from close contact screening, 12 from assorted screening
    – 25 cases in Kedah : 23 from existing clusters, 2 from assorted screening
    – 23 cases in Penang : 21 from existing clusters, 2 from assorted screening
    – 9 cases in Sarawak : 6 from existing clusters, 1 from close contact screening, 2 from assorted screening
    – 7 cases in KL : 3 from existing clusters, 3 from close contact screening, 1 from assorted screening
    – 6 cases in Perak : all from existing clusters
    – 4 cases in Putrajaya : 3 from new Gading Cluster, 1 from close contact screening
    – 3 cases in Terengganu : from existing clusters
    – 2 cases in Johor : from close contact screening
    – 2 cases in Kelantan : from close contact screening

Here is the breakdown of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia, according to states. Sabah is at the top with 17,519 cases, followed by Selangor with 5,410 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 3,101 cases, and Kedah with 2,165 cases.

This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 35,425, with 10,339 active cases – an increase of 204 cases, and the second day Malaysia went above 10,000 active cases for the second time during the Recovery MCO period.

They also shared that there are 12 fewer patients in the ICU – 82 cases right now, and 5 fewer patients requiring respiratory support – 27 cases right now.

 

COVID-19 In Malaysia : EIGHT Deaths Today

The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced EIGHT deaths today, which means a total of 271 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 0.80%.

Death #264 : Case 17,745 was a 83 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of diabetes, hypertension and stroke. He passed away at the Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sabah.

Death #265 : Case 32,597 was a 63 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of chronic lung disease. He passed away at the Likas Women and Children’s Hospital in Sabah.

Death #266 : Case 16,846 was a 79 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of hypertension, dyslipidemia and kidney disease. He passed away at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Perak.

Death #267 : Case 32,191 was a 64 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of hypertension and dyslipidemia. He passed away at the Tuaran Hospital in Sabah.

Death #268 : Case 29,671 was a 56 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia and heart disease. He passed away at the Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sabah.

Death #269 : Case 33,909 was a 63 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). He passed away at the Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sabah.

Death #270 : Case 25,352 was a 60 year-old foreign female, with a history of diabetes, hypertension and heart failure. She passed away at the Tawau Hospital in Sabah.

Death #271 : Case 34,013 was a 70 year-old foreign male, with a history of stroke. He passed away at the Tawau Hospital in Sabah.

Day 146 Of COVID-19 RMCO In Malaysia

Today marks the 146th day of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) which will last until 31 December, 2020.

Under RMCO, most businesses are allowed to reopen, with a new normal of restrictions on social distancing and other measures.

Interstate travel is now allowed (except to Enhanced MCO / administrative restricted areas), as well as many sports facilities.

The Malaysian government has so far announced several Enhanced MCOs :

They also announced Administrative Enhanced MCO for two areas in Banting, a section of Chow Kit, some residential areas in Selayang and Pudu.

 

COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe!

Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :

  • Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
  • Avoid public events and crowds
  • Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
  • Keep our home, office, vehicles, etc. clean
  • If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
  • Wash your food with water (and soap) after purchase and before preparation
