Malaysia reported 1290 new COVID-19 cases and 4 deaths today, but also discharged 878 patients who fully recovered!

Here are the COVID-19 updates for Malaysia on 19 November 2020…

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 878 Patients Discharged!

At 6 PM today, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 878 patients fully recovered from COVID-19, and were discharged today!

That means a total of 38,132 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 73.8%.

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 1290 New Cases!

The third wave continues with 1290 new COVID-19 cases in Malaysia!

– 660 cases in Sabah : 418 from existing clusters, 144 from close contact screening, 98 from assorted screening
– 407 cases in Selangor : 306 from existing clusters, 55 from new Kapas BJ Cluster, 1 from SARI screening, 26 from assorted screening
– 67 cases in KL : 45 from existing clusters, 15 from new Prestij Cluster, 4 from close contact screening, 3 from assorted screening
– 48 cases in Perak : 35 from existing clusters, 2 from new Bah Bercham Cluster, 5 from close contact screening, 1 from SARI screening, 5 from assorted screening
– 32 cases in Negeri Sembilan : 26 from existing clusters, 5 from close contact screening, 1 from assorted screening
– 17 cases in Kelantan : 15 from existing clusters, 2 from assorted screening
– 15 cases in Labuan : 3 from existing clusters, 7 from close contact screening, 5 from assorted screening
– 15 cases in Johor : 3 from existing clusters, 8 from new Kiambeng Cluster, 3 from close contact screening, 1 from assorted screening
– 8 cases in Penang : 7 from existing clusters, 1 from SARI screening
– 8 cases in Sarawak : 6 from existing clusters, 1 from close contact screening, 1 from assorted screening.
– 7 cases in Kedah : all from existing clusters
– 1 case in Melaka : from close contact screening

Here is the breakdown of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia, according to states. Sabah is at the top with 24,929 cases, followed by Selangor with 8,594 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 4,716 cases, and Negeri Sembilan with 3,641 cases.

This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 51,680, with 13,222 active cases – a whopping increase of 408 cases, and the 1st day Malaysia has more than 13,000 active cases during the Recovery MCO period.

They also shared that there are 7 additional patients in the ICU – 110 cases right now, and 4 fewer patients requiring respiratory support – 37 cases right now.

COVID-19 In Malaysia : FOUR Deaths Today

The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced FOUR deaths today, which means a total of 326 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 0.63%.

Death #323 : Case 43767 was a 62 year-old Malaysian female, with a history of diabetes, hypertension, chronic kidney disease and obesity. She passed away at the Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital in Johor.

Death #324 : Case 43923 was a 29 year-old Malaysian female, with a history of chronic kidney disease. She passed away at the Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sabah.

Death #325 : Case 45064 was a 58 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia and chronic kidney disease. She passed away at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Perak.

Death #326 : Case 50117 was a 47 year-old foreign female, with a history of diabetes. She passed away in the Lahad Datu Hospital in Sabah.

Day 161 Of COVID-19 RMCO In Malaysia

Today marks the 161st day of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) which will last until 31 December, 2020.

Under RMCO, most businesses are allowed to reopen, with a new normal of restrictions on social distancing and other measures.

Interstate travel is now allowed (except to Enhanced MCO / administrative restricted areas), as well as many sports facilities.

The Malaysian government has so far announced several Enhanced MCOs :

6 Parcels In Selayang Baru : 25 April until 3 May 2020
8 Parcels In Pusat Bandar Utara : 20 April until 3 May 2020
Whole Masjid India Area : 14 April until 28 April 2020
Selangor Mansion + Malayan Mansion : 7 April 2020 indefinitely
Menara City One : 31 March until 13 April 2020
Hulu Langat : 30 March until 13 April 2020
Two areas in Simpang Renggam : 27 March until 9 April 2020
28 towns in Kedah + Tawau Prison : 11 September until 25 September 2020
Lahad Datu, Tawau, Kunak and Semporna : 29 September until 12 October 2020
Kota Kinabalu, Penampang and Putatan : 7 October indefinitely
Klang, Sandakan, Papar + Tuaran : 9 October until 23 October 2020

They also announced Administrative Enhanced MCO for two areas in Banting, a section of Chow Kit, some residential areas in Selayang and Pudu.

Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :

Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
Avoid public events and crowds
Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
Keep our home, office, vehicles, etc. clean
If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
Wash your food with water (and soap) after purchase and before preparation
