Malaysia reported 958 new COVID-19 cases and 3 deaths today, but also discharged 956 patients who fully recovered!

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 956 Patients Discharged!

At 6 PM today, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 956 patients fully recovered from COVID-19, and were discharged today!

That means a total of 39,088 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 74.3%.

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 958 New Cases!

The third wave continues with 958 new COVID-19 cases in Malaysia!

  • 5 cases imported from overseas
    – all cases in KL
  • 953 local cases
    – 512 cases in Sabah
     : 189 from existing clusters, 8 from new Kasir Cluster, 196 from close contact screening, 119 from assorted screening
    – 153 cases in Selangor : 86 from existing clusters, 17 from new Sri Jujur Cluster, 27 from close contact screening, 23 from assorted screening
    – 153 cases in Negeri Sembilan : 139 from existing clusters, 1 from new OAD Cluster, 10 from close contact screening, 3 from assorted screening
    – 41 cases in KL : 19 from existing clusters, 17 from close contact screening, 5 from assorted screening
    25 cases in Penang : 24 from existing clusters, 1 from assorted screening
    – 24 cases in Perak : 15 from existing clusters, 8 from new Enggor Cluster, 1 from close contact screening
    – 9 cases in Johor : 2 from existing clusters, 5 from new Makmur Cluster, 1 from close contact screening, 1 from assorted screening
    7 cases in Kelantan : 6 from existing clusters, 1 from assorted screening
    – 4 cases in Terengganu : all from close contact screening
    – 2 cases in Sarawak : 1 from existing cluster, 1 from assorted screening.
    – 2 cases in Melaka : 1 from existing cluster, 1 from close contact screening.
    – 1 case in Labuan : from assorted screening
    – 1 case in Putrajaya : from close contact screening

Here is the breakdown of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia, according to states. Sabah is at the top with 25,441 cases, followed by Selangor with 8,747 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 4,762 cases, and Negeri Sembilan with 3,794 cases.

This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 52,638, with 13,221 active cases – a drop of 1 case, and the 2nd day Malaysia has more than 13,000 active cases during the Recovery MCO period.

They also shared that there no change in patients in the ICU – 110 cases right now, and 5 additional patients requiring respiratory support – 42 cases right now.

 

COVID-19 In Malaysia : THREE Deaths Today

The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced THREE deaths today, which means a total of 329 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 0.63%.

Death #327 : Case 39871 was a 32 year-old Malaysian female, who passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Sabah.

Death #328 : Case 43143 was a 39 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of hypertension. He passed away at the Tawau Hospital in Sabah.

Death #329 : Case 47656 was a 64 year-old foreign male, with a history of heart disease. He passed away at the Tawau Hospital in Sabah.

Day 162 Of COVID-19 RMCO In Malaysia

Today marks the 162nd day of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) which will last until 31 December, 2020.

Under RMCO, most businesses are allowed to reopen, with a new normal of restrictions on social distancing and other measures.

Malaysia RMCO Liberalisation : What Is Allowed / Not Allowed?

Interstate travel is now allowed (except to Enhanced MCO / administrative restricted areas), as well as many sports facilities.

The Malaysian government has so far announced several Enhanced MCOs :

They also announced Administrative Enhanced MCO for two areas in Banting, a section of Chow Kit, some residential areas in Selayang and Pudu.

 

COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe!

Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :

  • Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
  • Avoid public events and crowds
  • Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
  • Keep our home, office, vehicles, etc. clean
  • If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
  • Wash your food with water (and soap) after purchase and before preparation
