Malaysia reported 2062 new COVID-19 cases and 1 death, but discharged 911 patients who fully recovered!
Here are the COVID-19 updates for Malaysia on 22 December 2020…
COVID-19 In Malaysia : 911 Patients Discharged!
At 6:30 PM today, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 911 patients fully recovered from COVID-19, and were discharged today!
That means a total of 79,304 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 81.4%.
COVID-19 In Malaysia : 2062 New Cases!
The third wave continues with 2062 new COVID-19 cases in Malaysia!
- 4 cases imported from overseas
– 3 cases in KL
– 1 case in Selangor - 2058 local cases
– 1013 cases in Selangor : 464 from existing clusters, 272 from new Pasar Baru and Bukit Naga clusters, 151 from close contact screening, 126 from assorted screening
– 501 cases in KL : 54 from existing clusters, 369 from new Residen Construction Site, Kasih Construction Site, and Sinar View Construction Site clusters, 39 from close contact screening, 39 from assorted screening
– 252 cases in Sabah : 20 from existing clusters, 35 from new Paginatan Cluster, 146 from close contact screening, 51 from assorted screening
– 167 cases in Johor : 123 from existing clusters, 20 from new Tampoi Jaya Cluster, 14 from close contact screening, 10 from assorted screening
– 57 cases in Negeri Sembilan : 30 from existing clusters, 16 from close contact screening, 11 from assorted screening
– 23 cases in Penang : 7 from existing clusters, 2 from close contact screening, 14 from assorted screening
– 17 cases in Perak : 4 from existing clusters, 2 from new Rapat Cluster, 6 from close contact screening, 5 from assorted screening
– 9 cases in Melaka : 3 from existing clusters, 6 from close contact screening
– 6 cases in Pahang : 1 from existing cluster, 3 from close contact screening, 2 from assorted screening
– 5 cases in Kedah : 2 from existing clusters, 1 from close contact screening, 2 from assorted screening
– 4 cases in Kelantan : 2 from existing clusters, 2 from assorted screening
– 2 cases in Labuan : 1 from existing cluster, 1 from assorted screening
– 2 cases in Putrajaya : both from existing clusters
This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 97,389, with 17,646 active cases – a huge increase of 1150 cases.
They also shared that there are 2 additional patients in the ICU – 111 cases right now, and 4 fewer patients requiring respiratory support – 51 cases right now.
COVID-19 In Malaysia : Cases Breakdown By State
Here is the breakdown of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia, according to states.
Sabah is at the top with 34,977 cases, followed by Selangor with 26,683 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 10,819 cases, and Negeri Sembilan with 7,160 cases.
COVID-19 In Malaysia : ONE Death Today
The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced ONE death today, which means a total of 439 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 0.45%.
Death #439 : Case 41063 was a 69 year-old foreign male, whose body was brought to the Labuan Hospital.
Day 194 Of COVID-19 RMCO In Malaysia
Today marks the 194th day of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) which will last until 31 December, 2020.
Under RMCO, most businesses are allowed to reopen, with a new normal of restrictions on social distancing and other measures.

COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe!
Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :
- Avoid suspected cases or disease hotspots, like hospitals, if possible!
- Avoid public events and crowds
- Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
- If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
