COVID-19 Malaysia: 158434 Cases, 120051 Healed, 601 Dead

Malaysia reported 3339 new COVID-19 cases and 7 deaths, but discharged 2676 patients who fully recovered!

Here are the COVID-19 updates for Malaysia on 17 January 2021…

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 2676 Patients Discharged!

At 6:45 PM on 17 January 2021, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 2676 patients fully recovered from COVID-19, and were discharged today!

That means a total of 120,051 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 75.8%.

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 3339 New Cases!

The third wave continues with 3339 new COVID-19 cases in Malaysia!

15 cases imported from overseas
– 13 cases in KL, and 2 cases in Johor
3324 local cases
– 1314 cases in Selangor : 474 from existing clusters, 130 from new Jalan Pandan Indah and DTI Sepang 2 clusters, 518 from close contact screening, 192 from assorted screening
– 393 cases in Sabah : 5 from existing clusters, 32 from new Taman Ikan Jinak and Jalan Mawila clusters, 234 from close contact screening, 122 from assorted screening
– 360 cases in Johor : 109 from existing clusters, 33 from new Jalan Perak Cluster, 116 from close contact screening, 102 from assorted screening
– 321 cases in KL : 49 from existing clusters, 44 from new Jalan Menerung and Jalan Yap construction site clusters, 129 from close contact screening, 99 from assorted screening
– 236 cases in Negeri Sembilan : 178 from existing clusters, 38 from close contact screening, 20 from assorted screening
– 120 cases in Penang : 48 from existing clusters, 24 from close contact screening, 48 from assorted screening
– 114 cases in Kelantan : 25 from existing clusters, 55 from close contact screening, 34 from assorted screening
– 107 cases in Perak : 12 from existing clusters, 55 from close contact screening, 40 from assorted screening
– 96 cases in Kedah : 20 from existing clusters, 58 from close contact screening, 18 from assorted screening
– 62 cases in Sarawak : 45 from existing clusters, 17 from assorted screening
– 61 cases in Pahang : 13 from existing clusters, 3 from new Rantau Lada Cluster, 36 from close contact screening, 9 from assorted screening
– 60 cases in Melaka : 15 from existing clusters, 4 from new Pantai Peringgit Cluster, 31 from close contact screening, 10 from assorted screening
– 23 cases in Putrajaya : 2 from existing clusters, 11 from close contact screening, 10 from assorted screening
– 22 cases in Terengganu : 4 from existing clusters, 10 from close contact screening, 8 from assorted screening
– 22 cases in Labuan : 1 from existing cluster, 10 from new Jalan Mohammad Salleh Cluster, 8 from close contact screening, 3 from assorted screening
– 13 cases in Perlis : 13 from close contact screening

This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 158,434, with 37,782 active cases – a big increase of 656 cases.

They also shared that there are 35 additional patients in the ICU – 240 cases right now, and 14 additional patients requiring respiratory support – 93 cases right now.

COVID-19 In Malaysia : Cases Breakdown By State

Here is the breakdown of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia, according to states.

Selangor is at the top with 46,833 cases, followed by Sabah with 43,644 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 18,127 cases, and Johor with 13,372 cases.

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 7 Deaths Today

The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced 7 deaths today, which means a total of 601 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 0.38%.

Death #595 : Case 104843 was a 67 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia and obesity. He passed away at the Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital in Johor.

Death #596 : Case 118543 was a 62 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of diabetes and heart disease. He passed away at the Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital in Johor.

Death #597 : Case 120688 was a 93 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of diabetes, hypertension, chronic kidney disease and heart disease. He passed away at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Kedah.

Death #598 : Case 140362 was a 61 year-old Malaysian female, with a history of diabetes, hypertension and pulmonary tuberculosis. She passed away at the Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital in Johor.

Death #599: Case 148498 was a 32 year-old Malaysian female, whose body was brought to the Tengku Ampuan Hospital in Selangor.

Death #600 : Case 152481 was a 78 year-old Malaysian female, with a history of diabetes and hypertension. She passed away at the Sungai Buloh Hospital in Selangor.

Death #601 : Case 152513 was a 58 year-old foreign female, with a history of heart disease and Alzheimer’s disease. She passed away at the Tengku Ampuan Hospital in Selangor.

Day 220 Of COVID-19 RMCO In Malaysia

Today marks the 220th day of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) which will last until 31 March, 2021.

Under RMCO, most businesses are allowed to reopen, with a new normal of restrictions on social distancing and other measures.
