Malaysia reported 3349 new COVID-19 cases and 11 deaths, but also discharged 4427 patients who fully recovered!
Here are the COVID-19 updates for Malaysia on 24 January 2021…
COVID-19 In Malaysia : 4427 Patients Discharged!
At 5:30 PM on 24 January 2021, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 4427 patients fully recovered from COVID-19, and were discharged today!
That means a total of 141,446 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 77.0%.
COVID-19 In Malaysia : 3346 New Cases!
The third wave continues with 3346 new COVID-19 cases in Malaysia!
- 7 cases imported from overseas
– 3 in KL, 3 in Johor, 1 in Selangor - 3339 local cases
– 949 cases in Selangor : 240 from existing clusters, 83 from new Jalan Sebelas Cluster, 482 from close contact screening, 144 from assorted screening
– 431 cases in Sabah : 40 from existing clusters, 23 from new Jalan Segama and Ladang Segama clusters, 298 from close contact screening, 70 from assorted screening
– 387 cases in KL : 33 from existing clusters, 44 from new Sri Petaling construction site cluster, 158 from close contact screening, 152 from assorted screening
– 375 cases in Johor : 59 from existing clusters, 29 from new Keluli Tujuh and Jalan Tengar clusters, 171 from close contact screening, 116 from assorted screening
– 255 cases in Sarawak : 168 from existing clusters, 87 from assorted screening
– 179 cases in Terengganu : 52 from existing clusters, 89 from close contact screening, 38 from assorted screening
– 160 cases in Negeri Sembilan : 50 from existing clusters, 12 from new Bukit Emas Cluster, 46 from close contact screening, 52 from assorted screening
– 152 cases in Melaka : 95 from existing clusters, 39 from close contact screening, 18 from assorted screening
– 90 cases in Penang : 14 from existing clusters, 26 from close contact screening, 50 from assorted screening
– 85 cases in Kedah : 15 from existing clusters, 28 from close contact screening, 42 from assorted screening
– 77 cases in Kelantan : 4 from existing clusters, 49 from close contact screening, 24 from assorted screening
– 63 cases in Pahang : 15 from existing clusters, 34 from close contact screening, 14 from assorted screening
– 49 cases in Labuan : 19 from existing clusters, 22 from close contact screening, 8 from assorted screening
– 46 cases in Perak : 4 from existing clusters, 6 from new Tembok Taiping Cluster, 17 from close contact screening, 19 from assorted screening
– 38 cases in Putrajaya : 4 from existing clusters, 13 from new Flora construction site cluster, 13 from close contact screening, 8 from assorted screening
– 3 cases in Perlis : 2 from close contact screening, 1 from assorted screening
This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 183,801, with 41,677 active cases – a big drop of 1,137 cases.
They also shared that there are 5 additional patients in the ICU – 265 cases right now, and 1 fewer patient requiring respiratory support – 102 cases right now.
COVID-19 In Malaysia : Cases Breakdown By State
Here is the breakdown of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia, according to states, as of yesterday.
Selangor is at the top with 54,334 cases, followed by Sabah with 46,791 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 21,360 cases, and Johor with 16,231 cases.
COVID-19 In Malaysia : 11 Deaths Today
The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced 11 deaths today, which means a total of 678 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 0.37%.
Death #668 : Case 115262 was a 60 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of diabetes, hypertension and dyslipidemia. He passed away at the Tawau Hospital in Sabah.
Death #669 : Case 147822 was a 83 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of diabetes, hypertension, chronic kidney disease and gout. He passed away at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital in Terengganu.
Death #670 : Case 171999 was a 91 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of hypertension, stroke and dyslipidemia. He passed away at the Sibu Hospital in Sarawak.
Death #671 : Case 172507 was a 60 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of diabetes, hypertension and chronic kidney disease. He passed away at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital in Terengganu.
Death #672 : Case 175859 was a 34 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of asthma. He passed away at the Melaka Hospital.
Death #673 : Case 177586 was a 61 year-old Malaysian female, with a history of diabetes, hypertension, lung fibrosis and osteoarthritis. He passed away at a private hospital in Selangor.
Death #674 : Case 179046 was a 85 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of chronic kidney disease. He passed away at the Sultan Ismail Hospital in Johor.
Death #675 : Case 179047 was a 65 year-old Malaysian male, with a history of diabetes, and hypertension. He passed away at the Sultan Ismail Hospital in Johor.
Death #676 : Case 179682 was a 54 year-old Malaysian female, with a history of diabetes, hypertension and chronic kidney disease. Her body was brought to the Sibu Hospital in Sarawak.
Death #677 : Case 179708 was a 36 year-old Malaysian female, with a history of diabetes and obesity. She passed away at the Sibu Hospital in Sarawak.
Death #678 : Case 156800 was a 68 year-old foreign male, with a history of stomach ulcers. His body was brought to the Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sabah.
Day 227 Of COVID-19 RMCO In Malaysia
Today marks the 227th day of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) which will last until 31 March, 2021.
Under RMCO, most businesses are allowed to reopen, with a new normal of restrictions on social distancing and other measures.

COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe!
Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :
- Avoid suspected cases or disease hotspots, like hospitals, if possible!
- Avoid public events and crowds
- Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
