Malaysia reported 3100 new COVID-19 cases and 24 deaths, but also discharged 2340 patients who fully recovered!

Here are the COVID-19 updates for Malaysia on 8 February 2021…

 

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 2340 Patients Discharged!

On 8 February 2021, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 2340 patients fully recovered from COVID-19, and were discharged today!

That means a total of 192,679 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 78.5%.

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 3100 New Cases!

The third wave continues with 3100 new COVID-19 cases in Malaysia!

  • 1 case imported from overseas
    – in KL
  • 3099 local cases
    – 1196 cases in Selangor : 509 from existing clusters, 80 from new Jalan Teknologi, Jalan Sungai Rasa, Persiaran Mokhtar construction site and Persiaran Hulu clusters, 397 from close contact screening, 210 from assorted screening.
    – 490 cases in Johor : 147 from existing clusters, 119 from new Jalan Cyber Lima, Sri Menanti, Laman Desaru and Jalan Harmonium clusters, 94 from close contact screening, 130 from assorted screening.
    – 344 cases in Melaka : 333 from existing clusters, 8 from close contact screening, 3 from assorted screening.
    – 294 cases in KL : 36 from existing clusters, 20 from new Lengkok Pantai Cluster, 130 from close contact screening, 108 from assorted screening.
    – 209 cases in Penang : 142 from existing clusters, 23 from close contact screening, 44 from assorted screening.
    – 169 cases in Sabah : 18 from existing clusters, 17 from new Batu 38 Cluster, 100 from close contact screening, 34 from assorted screening.
    – 104 cases in Negeri Sembilan : 8 from existing clusters, 4 from new Taman Bukit Petaling Cluster, 57 from close contact screening, 35 from assorted screening.
    – 84 cases in Sarawak : 6 from existing clusters, 2 from new Sebangkoi Cluster, 44 from close contact screening, 32 from assorted screening.
    – 72 cases in Perak : 13 from existing clusters, 14 from close contact screening, 45 from assorted screening.
    – 37 cases in Kedah : 7 from existing clusters, 14 from close contact screening, 16 from assorted screening.
    – 30 cases in Kelantan : 1 from existing cluster, 21 from close contact screening, 8 from assorted screening.
    – 30 cases in Terengganu : 10 from existing clusters, 1 from new Kampung Tandak Cluster, 10 from close contact screening, 9 from assorted screening.
    – 28 cases in Pahang : 23 from existing clusters, 2 from close contact screening, 3 from assorted screening.
    – 8 cases in Putrajaya : 2 from close contact screening, 6 from assorted screening.
    – 4 cases in Perlis : all from close contact screening

This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 245,552, with 51,977 active cases – a large increase of 736 cases.

They also shared that there are 10 fewer patients in the ICU – 282 cases right now, and 6 fewer patients requiring respiratory support – 134 cases right now.

COVID-19 In Malaysia : Cases Breakdown By State

Here is the breakdown of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia, according to states.

Selangor is at the top with 79,580 cases, followed by Sabah with 50,543 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 29,518 cases, and Johor with 27,134 cases.

 

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 24 Deaths Today

The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced 24 deaths today, which means a total of 896 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 0.36%.

Death #873 : Case 104131 was a 79 year-old Malaysian male, with history of diabetes, and hypertension. He passed away at the KL Hospital.

Death #874 : Case 152498 was a 53 year-old Malaysian male, with history of hypertension, obesity and obstructive sleep apnoea. He passed away at the Sungai Buloh Hospital in Selangor.

Death #875 : Case 166812 was a 60 year-old Malaysian male, with history of diabetes and hypertension. He passed away at the Lahad Datu Hospital in Sabah.

Death #876 : Case 168764 was a 89 year-old Malaysian male, with history of hypertension and dyslipidemia. He passed away at the Sibu Hospital in Sarawak.

Death #877 : Case 176319 was a 89 year-old Malaysian male, with history of diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, chronic kidney disease, heart disease and stroke. He passed away at the KL Hospital.

Death #878 : Case 190087 was a 74 year-old Malaysian male, who passed away at the Sibu Hospital in Sarawak.

Death #880 : Case 193723 was a 71 year-old Malaysian female, with history of diabetes. She passed away at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Kedah.

Death #881 : Case 197973 was a 44 year-old Malaysian female, with history of hypertension, and anaemia. She passed away at Raja Permaisuri Zainab II Hospital in Kelantan.

Death #882 : Case 212825 was a 88 year-old Malaysian female, with history of diabetes and asthma. Her body was brought to the KL Hospital.

Death #883 : Case 218763 was a 80 year-old Malaysian male, with history of hypertension and dyslipidemia. He passed away at Seri Manjung Hospital in Perak.

Death #884 : Case 219505 was a 62 year-old Malaysian female, with history of diabetes, hypertension, chronic kidney disease and heart disease. She passed away at the Ampang Hospital in Selangor.

Death #885 : Case 221518 was a 83 year-old Malaysian female, with history of heart disease. She passed away at Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital in Johor.

Death #886 : Case 225963 was a 59 year-old Malaysian female, with history of diabetes, hypertension, chronic kidney disease and heart disease. She passed away at Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor.

Death #887 : Case 234469 was a 60 year-old Malaysian female, with history of diabetes, hypertension and dyslipidemia. She passed away at Sibu Hospital in Sarawak.

Death #888 : Case 239143 was a 84 year-old Malaysian male, with history of hypertension and dyslipidemia. He passed away at Sungai Buloh Hospital in Selangor.

Death #889 : Case 240318 was a 67 year-old Malaysian male, with history of diabetes, hypertension and heart disease. He passed away at Sungai Buloh Hospital in Selangor.

Death #890 : Case 240320 was a 92 year-old Malaysian female, with history of dementia. She passed away at Sungai Buloh Hospital in Selangor.

Death #891 : Case 240480 was a 63 year-old Malaysian male, with history of nerve disease. His body was brought to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Sabah.

Death #892 : Case 241675 was a 98 year-old Malaysian male, with history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and dementia. He passed away at Penang Hospital.

Death #893 : Case 241753 was a 45 year-old Malaysian male, who passed away at Tapah Hospital in Perak.

Death #894 : Case 150866 was a 50 year-old foreign male, whose body was brought to the Alor Gajah Hospital in Melaka.

Death #895 : Case 182211 was a 52 year-old foreign male, whose body was brought to the KL Hospital.

Death #896 : Case 240481 was a 48 year-old foreign female, with history of diabetes and hypertension. His body was brought to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Sabah.

Today marks the 27th day of the Movement Control Order 2.0 (MCO 2.0) which will last until 18 February, 2021.

Under MCO 2.0, only critical businesses are allowed to reopen, with interstate and inter-district travel restrictions.

Public events, entertainment outlet and group sports are forbidden. Even schools are closed with education mostly conducted online.
