Malaysia reported 2468 new COVID-19 cases and 14 deaths, but also discharged 4055 patients who fully recovered!

COVID-19 In Malaysia : 4055 Patients Discharged!
On 23 February 2021, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 4055 patients fully recovered from COVID-19, and were discharged today!
That means a total of 256,678 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 89.1%.
COVID-19 In Malaysia : 2468 New Cases!
The third wave continues with 2468 new COVID-19 cases in Malaysia!
- 4 cases imported from overseas
– 2 in Selangor, 2 in Labuan - 2464 local cases
– 930 cases in Selangor : 135 from existing clusters, 37 from new Jalan Damai, Subang Tiga and Jalan Serendah clusters, 407 from close contact screening, 351 from assorted screening
– 428 cases in Johor : 44 from existing clusters, 148 from new Digital Lapan construction site, Jalan Wawasan 16, Jalan Cyber Sembilan and Jalan Tebrau Panda clusters, 145 from close contact screening, 91 from assorted screening
– 308 cases in Perak : 296 from existing clusters, 9 from close contact screening, 3 from assorted screening
– 155 cases in KL : 7 from existing clusters, 54 from new Jalan Setiawangsa and Jalan Bayam clusters, 30 from close contact screening, 64 from assorted screening
– 155 cases in Penang : 77 from existing clusters, 42 from close contact screening, 36 from assorted screening
– 133 cases in Sarawak : 62 from existing clusters, 17 from new Jalan Muhibbah Cluster, 19 from close contact screening, 35 from assorted screening
– 100 cases in Negeri Sembilan : 33 from existing clusters, 41 from new Jalan Ekar construction site cluster, 21 from close contact screening, 5 from assorted screening
– 96 cases in Kelantan : 55 from existing clusters, 30 from close contact screening, 11 from assorted screening
– 94 cases in Sabah : 17 from existing clusters, 15 from new Taman Mawar Cluster, 32 from close contact screening, 30 from assorted screening
– 22 cases in Melaka : 6 from existing clusters, 14 from close contact screening, 2 from assorted screening
– 15 cases in Kedah : 4 from existing clusters, 2 from new Jalan PKNK 3/3 Cluster, 5 from close contact screening, 4 from assorted screening
– 11 cases in Pahang : 2 from existing clusters, 6 from close contact screening, 3 from assorted screening
– 9 cases in Terengganu : 5 from existing clusters, 1 from close contact screening, 3 from assorted screening
– 4 cases in Labuan : 2 from close contact screening, 2 from assorted screening
– 4 cases in Putrajaya : all from close contact screening
This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 288,229, with 30,475 active cases – a large drop of 1601 cases.
They also shared that there are 3 fewer patients in the ICU – 196 cases right now, and 1 additional patient requiring respiratory support – 92 cases right now.
COVID-19 In Malaysia : Cases Breakdown By State
Here is the breakdown of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia, according to states.
Selangor is at the top with 96,237 cases, followed by Sabah with 52,268 cases, Johor with 34,452 cases, and Kuala Lumpur with 33,798 cases.
COVID-19 In Malaysia : 14 Deaths Today
The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced 14 deaths today. That means a total of 1,076 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 0.37%.
Death #1063 : Case 152232 was a 69 year-old Malaysian female, with history of hypertension, dyslipidemia, hyperthyroidism and heart disease. She passed away at the Sungai Buloh Hospital in Selangor.
Death #1064 : Case 173328 was a 57 year-old Malaysian female, with history of diabetes. She passed away at the Serdang Hospital in Selangor.
Death #1065 : Case 176346 was a 69 year-old Malaysian male, with history of hypertension, dyslipidemia, and gout. He passed away at the Serdang Hospital in Selangor.
Death #1066 : Case 201331 was a 68 year-old Malaysian male, with history of diabetes, hypertension, COPD and heart disease. He passed away at the Sungai Buloh Hospital in Selangor.
Death #1067 : Case 219561 was a 51 year-old Malaysian male, with history of hypertension, stroke, heart disease and chronic kidney disease. He passed away at the Sungai Buloh Hospital in Selangor.
Death #1068 : Case 228955 was a 77 year-old Malaysian female, with history of diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, hyperthyroidism and heart disease. She passed away at the Serdang Hospital in Selangor.
Death #1069 : Case 237215 was a 30 year-old Malaysian male, with history of tuberculosis. He passed away at the Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital in Johor.
Death #1070 : Case 243166 was a 37 year-old Malaysian male, with history of diabetes, hypertension, and chronic kidney disease. He passed away at the Sungai Buloh Hospital in Selangor.
Death #1071 : Case 247870 was a 42 year-old Malaysian male, who passed away at the Sibu Hospital in Sarawak.
Death #1072 : Case 262086 was a 50 year-old Malaysian female, with history of hypertension. Her body was brought to the Selayang Hospital in Selangor.
Death #1073 : Case 262676 was a 74 year-old Malaysian female, with history of diabetes, hypertension, and hyperparathyroidism. She passed away at the Serdang Hospital in Selangor.
Death #1074 : Case 266174 was a 76 year-old Malaysian male, with history of Parkinson’s disease. He passed away at the Sibu Hospital in Sarawak.
Death #1075 : Case 275948 was a 55 year-old foreign male, with history of diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and chronic kidney disease. His body was brought to the Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sabah.
Death #1076 : Case 255835 was a 50 year-old foreign male, whose body was brought to the Ampang Hospital in Selangor.
Day 42 Of MCO 2.0 In Malaysia
Today marks the 42nd day of the Movement Control Order 2.0 (MCO 2.0) which will last until 18 February, 2021.
Under MCO 2.0, only critical businesses are allowed to reopen, with interstate and inter-district travel restrictions.
Public events, entertainment outlet and group sports are forbidden. Even schools are closed with education mostly conducted online.

COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe!
Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :
- Avoid suspected cases or disease hotspots, like hospitals, if possible!
- Avoid public events and crowds
- Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
- If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
