Malaysia reported 2195 new COVID-19 cases and 8 deaths, but discharged 1427 patients who fully recovered!
Here are the COVID-19 updates for Malaysia on 18 April 2021…
COVID-19 In Malaysia : 1427 Patients Discharged!
On 18 April 2021, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 1427 patients fully recovered from COVID-19, and were discharged today!
That means a total of 353,822 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 94.3%.
COVID-19 In Malaysia : 2195 New Cases!
The third wave continues with 2195 new COVID-19 cases in Malaysia!
- 10 cases imported from overseas
– 5 in KL, 3 in Selangor, 2 in Johor - 2185 local cases
– 508 cases in Sarawak : 54 from existing clusters, 3 from new Tarat Tani and Jalan Bintulu Sibu clusters, 315 from close contact screening, 136 from assorted screening.
– 428 cases in Selangor : 14 from existing clusters, 4 from new Selat Kelang and Cahaya Alam construction site clusters, 294 from close contact screening, 116 from assorted screening.
– 385 cases in Johor : 36 from existing clusters, 249 from new Jalan Perindustrian Satu Cluster, 68 from close contact screening, 32 from assorted screening.
– 332 cases in Kelantan : 177 from existing clusters, 120 from close contact screening, 35 from assorted screening.
– 171 cases in KL : 8 from existing clusters, 91 from close contact screening, 72 from assorted screening.
– 112 cases in Sabah : 36 from existing clusters, 56 from close contact screening, 20 from assorted screening.
– 84 cases in Penang : 8 from existing clusters, 27 from close contact screening, 49 from assorted screening.
– 42 cases in Negeri Sembilan : 20 from existing clusters, 15 from close contact screening, 7 from assorted screening.
– 35 cases in Perak : 19 from existing clusters, 9 from close contact screening, 7 from assorted screening.
– 30 cases in Kedah : 5 from existing clusters, 15 from close contact screening, 10 from assorted screening.
– 16 cases in Terengganu : 5 from existing clusters, 7 from close contact screening, 4 from assorted screening.
– 15 cases in Melaka : 6 from close contact screening, 9 from assorted screening.
– 6 cases in Labuan : 2 from existing clusters, 1 from close contact screening, 3 from assorted screening
– 3 cases in Putrajaya : 1 from existing cluster, 1 from close contact screening, 1 from assorted screening
– 3 cases in Perlis : from close contact screening
This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 375,054, with 19,854 active cases – a big increase of 760 cases.
They also shared that there are 6 fewer patients in the ICU – 219 cases right now, and 2 fewer patients requiring respiratory support – 90 cases right now.
COVID-19 In Malaysia : Cases Breakdown By State
Here is the breakdown of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia, according to states.
Selangor is at the top with 123,589 cases, followed by Sabah with 56,785 cases, Johor with 43,316 cases, and Kuala Lumpur with 40,092 cases.
COVID-19 In Malaysia : 8 Deaths Today
The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced 8 deaths today. That means a total of 1,378 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 0.37%.
Death #1371 : 59 year-old Malaysian male, with history of diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, gout, heart disease and chronic kidney disease. He passed away at the Sibu Hospital in Sarawak.
Death #1372 : 69 year-old Malaysian male, with history of hypertension, dyslipidemia, gout and COPD. He passed away at the Lahad Datu Hospital in Sabah.
Death #1373 : 77 year-old Malaysian male, with history of hypertension and heart disease. He passed away at the Raja Permaisuri Zainab II Hospital in Kelantan.
Death #1374 : 90 year-old Malaysian male, with history of stroke. He passed away at the Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital in Selangor.
Death #1375 : 72 year-old Malaysian female, with history of diabetes and hypertension. She passed away at the Raja Permaisuri Zainab II Hospital in Kelantan.
Death #1376 : 37 year-old Malaysian male, with history of diabetes and dyslipidemia. He passed away at the Sungai Buloh Hospital in Selangor.
Death #1377 : 79 year-old Malaysian female, with history of diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and chronic kidney disease. She passed away at the Sungai Buloh Hospital in Selangor.
Death #1378 : 65 year-old Malaysian male, with history of diabetes. He passed away at the Penang Hospital.
Day 96 Of CMCO / RMCO 2.0 In Malaysia
Today marks the 96th day of the CMCO / RMCO 2.0 which will last until 28 April 2021.
Under CMCO / RMCO 2.0, inter-district travel is allowed, but not interstate travel. And businesses are allowed to operate, subject to SOP.

- Avoid suspected cases or disease hotspots, like hospitals, if possible!
- Avoid public events and crowds
- Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
