Malaysia reported 2078 new COVID-19 cases and 8 deaths, but discharged 1402 patients who fully recovered!
Here are the COVID-19 updates for Malaysia on 19 April 2021…
COVID-19 In Malaysia : 1402 Patients Discharged!
On 19 April 2021, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 1402 patients fully recovered from COVID-19, and were discharged today!
That means a total of 355,224 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 94.2%.
COVID-19 In Malaysia : 2078 New Cases!
The third wave continues with 2078 new COVID-19 cases in Malaysia!
- 13 cases imported from overseas
– 6 in KL, 4 in Johor, 3 in Selangor - 2065 local cases
– 589 cases in Sarawak : 67 from existing clusters, 85 from new Sungai Duan, Sungai Passin and Sungai Selitut clusters, 298 from close contact screening, 139 from assorted screening.
– 454 cases in Selangor : 32 from existing clusters, 42 from new Jalan Sulah 16 Cluster, 295 from close contact screening, 85 from assorted screening.
– 290 cases in Kelantan : 93 from existing clusters, 29 from new Jalan Hospital, Tangok and Pulai Chondong clusters, 135 from close contact screening, 33 from assorted screening.
– 147 cases in KL : 4 from existing clusters, 82 from close contact screening, 61 from assorted screening.
– 125 cases in Sabah : 44 from existing clusters, 1 from new Jalan Tagasan Cluster, 62 from close contact screening, 18 from assorted screening.
– 111 cases in Johor : 18 from existing clusters, 23 from new Jalan Medan Aliff, Cyber Park and Jalan Cahaya Baru clusters, 41 from close contact screening, 29 from assorted screening.
– 91 cases in Penang : 4 from existing clusters, 57 from close contact screening, 30 from assorted screening.
– 91 cases in Negeri Sembilan : 32 from existing clusters, 17 from close contact screening, 42 from assorted screening.
– 48 cases in Kedah : 2 from existing clusters, 18 from new Bayan Cenderawasih and Jalan Weng clusters, 20 from close contact screening, 8 from assorted screening.
– 43 cases in Perak : 21 from existing clusters, 3 from new Jalan Bandar Universiti Cluster, 13 from close contact screening, 6 from assorted screening.
– 32 cases in Pahang : 23 from existing clusters, 6 from close contact screening, 3 from assorted screening.
– 27 cases in Melaka : 12 from existing clusters, 9 from close contact screening, 6 from assorted screening.
– 8 cases in Terengganu : 5 from existing clusters, 2 from close contact screening, 1 from assorted screening
– 6 cases in Labuan : all from close contact screening
– 2 cases in Putrajaya : both from close contact screening
– 1 case in Perlis : from close contact screening
This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 377,132, with 20,522 active cases – a big increase of 668 cases.
They also shared that there are 9 additional patients in the ICU – 228 cases right now, and 3 additional patients requiring respiratory support – 93 cases right now.
COVID-19 In Malaysia : Cases Breakdown By State
Here is the breakdown of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia, according to states.
Selangor is at the top with 124,046 cases, followed by Sabah with 56,910 cases, Johor with 43,431 cases, and Kuala Lumpur with 40,245 cases.
COVID-19 In Malaysia : 8 Deaths Today
The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced 8 deaths today. That means a total of 1,386 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 0.37%.
Death #1379 : 78 year-old Malaysian male, with history of diabetes and hypertension. He passed away at the Bintulu Hospital in Sarawak.
Death #1380 : 89 year-old Malaysian female, with history of diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia and osteoarthritis. She passed away at the Tawau Hospital in Sabah.
Death #1381 : 72 year-old Malaysian female, with history of Parkinson’s disease. She passed away at the Miri Hospital in Sarawak.
Death #1382 : 81 year-old Malaysian male, who passed away at the Sungai Buloh Hospital in Selangor.
Death #1383 : 35 year-old Malaysian male, with history of gout and obesity. He passed away at the Sibu Hospital in Sarawak.
Death #1384 : 66 year-old Malaysian male, with history of hypertension. He passed away at the Tawau Hospital in Sabah.
Death #1385 : 57 year-old Malaysian female, with history of obesity. She passed away at the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Selangor.
Death #1386 : 55 year-old Malaysian female, with history of diabetes and hypertension. She passed away at the KL Hospital.
Day 97 Of CMCO / RMCO 2.0 In Malaysia
Today marks the 97th day of the CMCO / RMCO 2.0 which will last until 28 April 2021.
Under CMCO / RMCO 2.0, inter-district travel is allowed, but not interstate travel. And businesses are allowed to operate, subject to SOP.

Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :
- Avoid suspected cases or disease hotspots, like hospitals, if possible!
- Avoid public events and crowds
- Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
