Malaysia reported 2341 new COVID-19 cases and 3 deaths, but discharged 1592 patients who fully recovered!
Here are the COVID-19 updates for Malaysia on 20 April 2021…
COVID-19 In Malaysia : 1592 Patients Discharged!
On 20 April 2021, the Malaysia Ministry of Health announced that another 1592 patients fully recovered from COVID-19, and were discharged today!
That means a total of 356,816 COVID-19 patients have fully recovered in Malaysia so far! That’s a recovery rate of 94.0%.
COVID-19 In Malaysia : 2341 New Cases!
The third wave continues with 2341 new COVID-19 cases in Malaysia!
- 7 cases imported from overseas
– 6 in KL, 1 in Sarawak - 2334 local cases
– 599 cases in Sarawak : 65 from existing clusters, 51 from new Kampung Tengah Betong and Sungai Rian clusters, 424 from close contact screening, 59 from assorted screening.
– 539 cases in Selangor : 17 from existing clusters, 2 from new Jalan Meranti Cluster, 375 from close contact screening, 145 from assorted screening.
– 429 cases in Kelantan : 172 from existing clusters, 26 from new Jalan Pasir Mas – Pohon Tanjung Cluster, 172 from close contact screening, 59 from assorted screening.
– 338 cases in KL : 5 from existing clusters, 12 from new Taman Dato Seng Cluster, 207 from close contact screening, 114 from assorted screening.
– 102 cases in Johor : 32 from existing clusters, 48 from close contact screening, 22 from assorted screening.
– 92 cases in Penang : 6 from existing clusters, 10 from new Jalan Padang Lallang and Hala Kampung Jawa clusters, 42 from close contact screening, 34 from assorted screening.
– 82 cases in Sabah : 15 from existing clusters, 47 from close contact screening, 20 from assorted screening.
– 44 cases in Kedah : 15 from existing clusters, 18 from close contact screening, 11 from assorted screening.
– 34 cases in Perak : 7 from existing clusters, 23 from close contact screening, 4 from assorted screening.
– 19 cases in Melaka : 1 from existing cluster, 14 from close contact screening, 4 from assorted screening.
– 17 cases in Pahang : 3 from existing clusters, 5 from close contact screening, 9 from assorted screening.
– 17 cases in Negeri Sembilan : 5 from existing clusters, 6 from close contact screening, 6 from assorted screening.
– 15 cases in Terengganu : 14 from existing clusters, 1 from close contact screening
– 3 cases in Putrajaya : 2 from close contact screening, 1 from assorted screening
– 3 cases in Perlis : from assorted screening
– 1 case in Labuan : from assorted screening
This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 379,473, with 21,268 active cases – a big increase of 746 cases.
They also shared that there are 21 additional patients in the ICU – 249 cases right now, and 2 additional patients requiring respiratory support – 95 cases right now.
COVID-19 In Malaysia : Cases Breakdown By State
Here is the breakdown of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia, according to states.
Selangor is at the top with 124,585 cases, followed by Sabah with 56,992 cases, Johor with 43,533 cases, and Kuala Lumpur with 40,589 cases.
COVID-19 In Malaysia : 3 Deaths Today
The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced 3 deaths today. That means a total of 1,389 people have died from COVID-19 in Malaysia – a mortality rate of 0.37%.
Death #1387 : 75 year-old Malaysian male, with history of hypertension, dyslipidemia and chronic kidney disease. He passed away at the Sarikei Hospital in Sarawak.
Death #1388 : 71 year-old Malaysian male, with history of diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, heart disease, chronic kidney disease and COPD. He passed away at the Sungai Buloh Hospital in Selangor.
Death #1389 : 65 year-old foreign female, who passed away at the Tawau Hospital in Sabah.
Day 98 Of CMCO / RMCO 2.0 In Malaysia
Today marks the 98th day of the CMCO / RMCO 2.0 which will last until 28 April 2021.
Under CMCO / RMCO 2.0, inter-district travel is allowed, but not interstate travel. And businesses are allowed to operate, subject to SOP.

- Avoid suspected cases or disease hotspots, like hospitals, if possible!
- Avoid public events and crowds
- Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
