A viral post about US President Donald Trump fainting from the coronavirus is circulating on WhatsApp.

While this may well disappoint many people, this is yet another COVID-19 fake news. Here are the facts!

The Donald Trump fainting from coronavirus hoax has two parts – a short text, and a 15-second video clip of him peering into the crowd, before being whisked away by two men.

Donald Trump did not faint from the coronavirus, and here are the facts :

The Video Was From 2016

That was a genuine video, but it was taken from a Trump-Pence rally in Nevada on 6 November 2016 – more than 3 years ago.

It actually shows then Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump being whisked off the stage by Secret Service agents after a perceived threat.

No Legit Press Have Reported It

Just like the recent claim that Tom Hanks died from the COVID-19 coronavirus, this story has not been reported by any legitimate press.

Such a shocking story would have been headline news on all online news portals, and yet, this is only being reported through a simple WhatsApp message?

Why Would Any American Citizen Fly To China?

Even if such an incident happened, there is no reason for any American citizen to fly to China, which is still a hotbed of coronavirus infections.

As of 17 March 2020, there are still over 8,000 active COVID-19 cases, and just under 6,200 active cases in the United States.

It would make sense for Americans to head into rural areas to hunker down, or fly to a safer country. China isn’t one of them.
