It is the end for Equatorial Penang, which will close its doors by 31 March 2021 because of adverse conditions caused by COVID-19.
Yet another casualty of the pandemic…
Hotel Equatorial Penang Will Close Down In March 2021
On 25 January 2021, the Management of Equatorial Penang announced that they will close down effective 31 March 2021.
In an internal letter to the staff, General Manager Alan H. C. Ong stated that the decision was due to “adverse business conditions caused by COVID-19“.
Despite the huge losses suffered by the hotel, the management of Hotel Equatorial Penang will pay severance benefits to their staff, who will all remain employed until 31 March 2021.
Sadly, Penang is currently under MCO and it is unlikely you will have the opportunity for a last stay at the hotel, as it appears they plan to close the hotel to the public before 31 March 2021.
