Latest Face Mask Rules For Schools In Malaysia!
On 10 September 2022, the Malaysia Ministry of Education (KPM) released the latest face mask rules for schools.
These new face mask rules apply to all educational institutions under the Ministry of Education, as well as those not registered with the ministry, including educational institutions run by the state government.
Face Mask Is Now Optional
KPM has now made the face mask optional in schools, whether indoors or outdoors.
However, KPM recommends that students and teachers wear a face mask in educational institutions, especially where it is crowded.
Face Mask Required Indoors If Symptomatic
Individuals who are symptomatic with a fever, cough or flu, are still REQUIRED to wear a face mask while indoors.
However, the wearing of face mask is optional when outdoors, even for individuals who are symptomatic.
Face Mask Required Indoors If COVID-19 Positive
Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 while in an educational institution or a dormitory are REQUIRED to wear a face mask while travelling to the COVID-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) or a nearby health facility for a health check.
Face Mask Required In School Bus / Van / Public Transport
Students are still REQUIRED to wear a face mask while travelling in a school bus or van, or whenever they are taking public transportation like a public bus, train, taxi or an e-hailing ride.
