FLYPROJECT just announced that 42 of their employees and clients at multiple studios tested positive for COVID-19!

FLYPROJECT : 42 Employees + Clients Positive For COVID-19!

On 3 January 2020, FLYPROJECT announced that 11 team members and 1 client at multiple studios tested positive for COVID-19.

On 4 January 2020, FLYPROJECT announced that another 3 team members and 9 clients tested positive for COVID-19.

On 6 January 2020, FLYPROJECT announced that another team member and 17 clients at multiple studios tested positive for COVID-19.

The employees who tested positive for COVID-19 worked at different FLYPROJECT studios at these malls :

• Intermark Mall
• Damansara City Mall
• Verve Shops
• Kiara 163
• JW Marriott
• MAHSA Avenue
• The Curve

While the infection started at a dinner party that 10 affected people attended, the other cases were transmitted at their studios.

 

FLYPROJECT COVID-19 Cases : Actions Taken

Here are the actions taken by FLYPROJECT after the COVID-19 exposure at their studios.

Studio Closures

As a precautionary measure, FLYPROJECT shut down all of their studios until Monday, 11 January 2021 for sanitisation and disinfection, and to let their remaining employees quarantine for 10 days.

All scheduled classes have been cancelled, all packages frozen and any credits used for affected classes refunded.

Contact Tracing

FLYPROJECT has contacted all employees and clients who were deemed to be close contacts for self-quarantine and COVID-19 testing. Contact tracing beyond their outlets are still being carried out.

FLYPROJECT COVID-19 Cases : What’s The Risk?

The fact that over 40 FLYPROJECT employees and clients tested positive for COVID-19 so far demonstrates the risk of indoor exercise classes.

The risk would be greatly reduced if everyone at those classes wore a face mask at all times, and practiced good hand hygiene.

However, most people do not wear face masks while exercising… and the risk is compounded by the recirculation of air in the room.

COVID-19 is easily destroyed by soap, so even a simple cleaning operation will definitely clean the studios of any infectious particles.

However, it is critical that you wear a face mask in public at all times, as they greatly reduce the risk of infection.

You should also maintain good hand hygiene by cleaning with soap and water, or a hand sanitiser.

 

COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe!

Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :

• Avoid suspected cases or disease hotspots, like hospitals, if possible!
• Avoid public events and crowds
• Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
• If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
