Fake messages about a free drive-through COVID-19 testing offer at the Lake Gardens have been circulating on social media today.

Here are two examples with the picture used (which we placed a False overlay) :

The picture is genuine, but the messages are false. There is no such drive-through COVID-19 testing in Malaysia.

The Malaysia Ministry of Health issued a public notice on their Facebook page, confirming that there is no such drive through facility for COVID-19 testing :

From what we understand (thanks, Ravi!), the tents in the picture were set-up last Saturday (7 March 2020) to facilitate the testing of lawyers who attended the Kuala Lumpur Bar AGM, after one of their members tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus.

 

COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe!

Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :

• Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
• Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
• Keep our home, office, vehicles, etc. clean
• If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
• Thoroughly cook your food, and boil water before drinking
