You may have noticed that some websites are posting to your Facebook wall. Usually, they are comments that you wrote on those websites, or a survey or petition you agreed to promote. But sometimes, they can be malicious Facebook apps that post provocative, suggestive or outright pornographic posts to your Facebook wall. In this article, we will teach you how to stop Facebook apps posting to your Facebook wall, or change their behaviour.
- Go to your Facebook account settings by clicking on the menu icon right at the end (1) and then selecting Settings (2).
- Select Apps (3), and you will see a list of website apps that you are currently sharing details with, or allowing to post on your behalf. If you don’t find the app you want to remove or modify, click on the Show all link at the bottom.
- Let’s use the Change.org app as an example. First, simply mouse over the Change.org section to reveal the Edit (pencil icon) and the Remove (X icon).
- When your mouse cursor goes over the X icon, you will see the Remove tooltip appear. Click on the X to begin removing the Change.org app.
- A pop-up window will appear, asking if you are sure you want to remove the Change.org app.
- If you do not like what this app has earlier posted to your Facebook wall, make sure you tick the checkbox to “Delete all your xxxxxxx activities, including posts, photos and videos on Facebook.“
- Then click Remove to remove the app and prevent it from ever posting to your Facebook wall.

I Want To Keep The App But Stop It From Posting To My Wall
Some of these apps are useful to keep enabled, because they allow you to quickly fill in details or log into those websites. But you don’t want them to post to your wall. That’s easily accomplished by limiting the permissions for the app.
- When your mouse cursor goes over the pencil icon, you will see the Edit settings tooltip appear. Click on the pencil icon to edit the Change.org app’s permissions.
- The App Settings window will pop-up. Some of the options cannot be changed, because they have been made mandatory by the website or app creator. These mandatory settings will have a light blue tick icon. If these mandatory settings are not acceptable to you, then the only way to disable them is to remove the app completely.
- Settings that can be changed will have a dark blue tick icon, or a drop-down menu. Simply select from the options in the drop-down menu, or click on the dark blue tick in to disable the option.
- To prevent this app from posting to your Wall, scroll down to the Post option, and click on the dark blue tick icon. You will see an blank circle.
- Once you are done, just hit Save and the app will no longer be allowed to post to your Wall.
