Jabil Penang was ordered to shut down their Plant 1 after 21 employees tested positive for COVID-19 in a screening test!

 

Jabil Penang : 21 Employees Positive For COVID-19!

On 29 December 2020, Jabil Penang was ordered to shut down their Plant 1 by the Malaysia Ministry of Health (KKM) after 21 employees there tested positive for COVID-19.

They were part of over 2,000 Jabil Penang employees who underwent screening tests from 18 to 25 November 2020. The other Jabil Penang facilities remain operational.

The notice posted outside Plant 1 of Jabil Penang stated that KKM closed it down from 3 PM on 29 December 2020, until 7 January 2021.

Their statement released today said, “Jabil is complying with all the necessary precautionary measures and working closely with the MOH, local government officials and local health authorities to follow protocol.

Jabil Penang COVID Exposure : Should You Be Concerned?

As per MOH guidelines, they will be performing contact tracing, and contacting those who came in close contact with the affected employees.

If you happened to be in close contact with the affected Jabil Penang employees, you will be contacted and asked to self-quarantine as well as undergo a screening test.

This case highlights the risks of staying in close quarters in worker hostels, and why the government continues to insist that office employees must work from home.

You are only at risk if you come into close contact with these affected employees, including outsiders supplying and transporting in and out of their factory.

The SARS-CoV-2 virus is easily destroyed by soap, so a deep cleaning operation will definitely clear the building of any infectious particles, albeit only temporarily.

The best way to protect yourself is to always wear a face mask in public. Face masks have been proven to prevent the spread and reduce the risk of being infected.
