Faizal Harrys just shared some photos of the Civil Defence COVID-19 team at the Kuching International Airport, apparently ready to implement the new quarantine policy in August.

Starting 1 August 2020, Sarawak will implement a new quarantine policy that will include Malaysian citizens from other states, due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases.

It basically means that everyone entering Sarawak now has to undergo a quarantine process, which means a greater load for the authorities.

That is probably why the Civil Defence team was roped in to help at the Kuching International Airport.

Malaysian Citizens From Other States

From 1 August 2020 until 14 August 2020, all Malaysian citizens travelling from the Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Labuan to Sarawak will be quarantined in a hotel upon arrival.

A sample will be taken from them on the second day of their arrival, and they will be allowed to leave their quarantine if the results of their COVID-19 PCR test comes back negative.

If you are a Sarawakian, the government of Sarawak will pay for the cost of your quarantine.

Malaysian Citizens / Foreigners From Overseas

The existing policy for Malaysian citizens or foreigners travelling to Sarawak from overseas still stands.

  • 14-day compulsory quarantine in a hotel
  • a PCR swab will be taken on arrival
  • a second PCR swab will be taken before Day 14 of the compulsory quarantine

If you are a Sarawakian, the government of Sarawak will pay for the cost of your quarantine.
