CMCO in Malaysia Extended To 9 June + No Raya Travel!

The Prime Minister of Malaysia just announced that the CMCO (Conditional Movement Control Order) will be extended by a whole month, and that interstate travel for the Hari Raya holidays will NOT be allowed.

 

CMCO in Malaysia Extended To 9 June + No Raya Travel!

The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tan Sri Dato’ Hj Muhyiddin Bin Hj Mohd Yassin, today announced an extension of the CMCO to 9 June 2020, as well as no interstate travel during the Raya holidays.

Here is a summary of what the Prime Minister announced at 2 PM today :

• CMCO / PKPB extended by 4 weeks to 9 June 2020.
• All current SOPs will remain in effect until 9 June 2020.
• Interstate travel is prohibited, especially for the Hari Raya holidays.
• You will be allowed to hold open houses, and receive visitors, but only on the first day of Hari Raya and subject to the limit of 20 persons allowed at one time, and social distancing to be maintained.
• Prayers : JAKIM is assessing the necessary SOPs, which will be announced after they have received royal consent. The Malaysian government will also announce SOPs for churches, temples, etc.
• Couples who are working in different states can apply to travel interstate to visit each other.
• BPN : Government is extending the appeal period to 31 May 2020. Applicants that were rejected can proceed to LHDN counters from Tuesday onwards.

 

CMCO : What Is It?

CMCO (PKPB in Bahasa Malaysia) is short for Conditional Movement Control Order. It is a loosening of the nationwide lockdown on travel, work and business in Malaysia.

Under CMCO, businesses will be allowed to reopen from 4 May 2020 onwards, with a new normal of restrictions on social distancing and other measures.

COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe!

Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :

• Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
• Avoid public events and crowds
• Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
• Keep our home, office, vehicles, etc. clean
• If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
• Wash your food with water (and soap) after purchase and before preparation
