COVID-19 : Malaysia Limits Travel From Japan, Italy + Iran!

With 5 new COVID-19 cases reported today, Malaysia also announced that they are limiting travel from Japan, Italy and Iran! Here are the details!

 

Malaysia Hits 55 Cases With Second COVID-19 Wave!

The Malaysia Ministry of Health announced 5 new COVID-19 infections today, as part of a cluster involving Case 26.

Case 26 attended about five public events and had close contacts with over 200 people. So far, the MOH confirmed 26 positive cases after tracing his close contacts, and their close contacts.

With that, a total of 55 COVID-19 patients have been identified so far in Malaysia. With 22 patients fully recovered and discharged, this leaves 33 active cases under treatment.

 

Malaysia Limits Travel From Japan, Italy + Iran!

After considering the current COVID-19 situation in Malaysia, that is currently in the second wave, the Technical Working Committee for COVID-19 decided in their Meeting No.2/2020 that :

1. Malaysians are advised to temporarily postpone travel to these regions or cities in Italy, Japan and Iran :

Veneto
Emilia-Romagna
Japan Hokkaido
Iran

Tehran
Qom
Gilan

2. Malaysia will temporarily restrict entry of visitors (except citizens, permanent residents, social pass holders and Malaysian student passes) who were present or visited the listed city or region in Japan, Italy or Iran as listed above within 14 days prior to arrival in Malaysia.

3. Malaysians who are currently in the listed city or region in Japan, Italy or Iran as listed above are advised to take heightened precautionary measures, maintain personal health, and to adhere to advisories and instructions by the local authorities.

4. Malaysians abroad are encouraged to register at the nearest Malaysian embassies.

5. To gazette face masks as a controlled item under the Control of Supplies Regulations (Prohibition of Export) 2020 to ensure adequate supply of face masks for all Malaysians.
