No More COVID-19 Temperature Check + Manual Logbook!

There is no longer a need for the COVID-19 temperature check or the manual logbook!

Here is what you need to know!

No More COVID-19 Temperature Check + Manual Logbook!

Since 2020, it has been mandatory for people to undergo a body temperature check and sign in using a manual logbook or the MySejahtera app in Malaysia.

On 9 February 2022, Senior Minister (Defence) Hishammuddin Hussein announced that it is no longer mandatory for premises to conduct body temperature checks, or provide the manual logbook.

Starting Friday, 11 February 2022, a body temperature check will only be optional before entering any public premise.

The government will also abolish the use of manual logbooks, and rely on the MySejahtera app. It is still mandatory to check in at public premises using MySejahtera.

The temperature check at public premises may have had some use early in the pandemic, but it has long been acknowledged as pointless. After all, any person with a fever can simply bypass the check by taking paracetamol

Abolishing the manual logbook is a good idea in theory – contact tracing through MySejahtera and MySJ Trace is faster, more accurate, and automatic. However, it may prove to be problematic for people without smartphones, or areas without good Internet coverage.
