OTK Gombak was temporarily closed for deep cleaning after a customer who shopped there tested positive for COVID-19. Here are the details!

The OTK (Ong Tai Kim) Supermarket in Medan Idaman Gombak was temporarily closed for deep cleaning, after they were informed that a customer who shopped there tested positive for COVID-19.

This footage of their deep cleaning operation was reportedly shot by the OTK Gombak management, and shared with netizens (here and here).

According to netizens who contacted OTK Gombak earlier, the customer shopped there at around 11 AM to 12 PM on Tuesday, 6 October 2020.

Their staff members who were determined to be in close contact with the customer were screened for COVID-19 and placed under self-quarantine.

They were allowed to reopen after the deep cleaning operation on the 8 / 9 October 2020.

If you visited OTK Gombak recently, should you be worried?

If you registered your visit using MySejahtera or the physical logbook, you will be contacted if you were determined to be a close contact of this customer.

Then you will need to self-quarantine and get yourself screened for COVID-19. If you did not get the call, you need not worry.

However, if you failed to log your visit to OTK Gombak, you should get yourself screened for COVID-19, if you were shopping there between 11 AM and 12 PM on 6 October 2020.

Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :

  • Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
  • Avoid public events and crowds
  • Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
  • Keep our home, office, vehicles, etc. clean
  • If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
  • Wash your food with water (and soap) after purchase and before preparation
