Another Boy Killed In Pakistan Making TikTok Video!

On 10 July 2020, a 14 year-old boy was killed while shooting a TikTok video, in the Bagan neighbourhood of Abbottabad, Pakistan.

The 10th grade student, identified as Abdul Samad, was killed after he accidentally fired a gun while filming himself with it on TikTok.

This new tragedy is the latest in  a string of unfortunate deaths in Pakistan involving teenagers and children trying to make TikTok videos :

Should TikTok be held responsible for these deaths, or is it the fault of parents who let their children have access to their guns?

Arguably, TikTok needs to consider if it is really smart to allow children and teenagers to view videos of people showing off and shooting guns.

The short video format means there is no explanation, and children may think it’s perfectly safe to imitate.

There is also no age check so anyone can watch those videos, irrespective of how young they are. In fact, you don’t even need a TikTok account to watch!

People Keep Getting Killed / Injured For TikTok Videos

TikTok may be very popular with children and teenagers, but it’s getting hammered by controversies, some of its own doing.

It was caught spying on what we type in other apps, not once but TWICE. And when Chinese troops allegedly attacked Indian troops in the Himalayas, India banned TikTok together with 58 other Chinese apps.

Its drive to promote challenges for more views and likes led to deaths and injuries from the Skull Breaker / Tripping Jump Challenge. It took considerable criticism and outrage before they finally banned the challenge.

More recently, it powered the George Floyd Challenge, which was not only extremely racist but also dangerous for children to imitate.
