The CMCO / PKPB lockdown of Penang will end on 6 December 2020, except for 2 precincts – Mukim 12 and Mukim 13!

 

Penang : CMCO Ends On 6 December,  Except For 2 Precincts!

The Malaysian National Security Council just announced that the CMCO / PKPB lockdown of Penang will end as scheduled on 6 December 2020, except for 2 precincts.

Only the CMCO / PKPB lockdown of Mukim 12 (of the Southwest District) and Mukim 13 (of the Northeast District) will be extended for another 2 weeks, and end on 20 December 2020.

Penang CMCO Ends On 6 December, Except For 2 Mukims!

Mukim 12 areas of the Southwest Penang district that will still be under CMCO / PKPB are :

  • Desa Ria, FTZ3, FTZ4, Batu Maung, Bayan Baru, Bayan Lepas (including Free Industrial Zone), Sungai Ara, Sungai Nibong, and Queensbay area.

Mukim 13 of the Northeast Penang district that will still be under CMCO / PKPB are :

  • Kampung Melayu, Bandar Baru Ayer Itam, Relau, Paya Terubong, Bukit Jambul Complex, Lip Sin Garden, Bayan Mutiara, Sungai Dua, Taman Bukit Gambi, Kampung Sungai Gelugor, Batu Uban, Pulau Jerejak, and a part of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).

 

Extended Penang CMCO SOP : Some Changes To SOP

The Malaysia National Security Council just announced some changes to the SOP :

  • Interstate travel is now allowed (except in EMCO areas), with no roadblocks at state borders
  • There is no more limit on the number of passengers in a vehicle.

Other than that, the previous SOP should apply :

  • Supermarkets, shopping malls and retail stores are allowed, between 6 AM and 12 AM.
  • Restaurants, food stores, food trucks, hawkers, food courts, food stalls, food kiosks, groceries and convenience stores are allowed to open from 6 AM until 12 AM.
  • All public and private schools, institutions of higher learning, vocational training institutes, kindergartens, day care centres, tahfiz centres, public parks and recreation centres must close.
  • All seminars, workshops, courses, training, conferences, lectures and MICE (Meeting, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) are forbidden.
  • All domestic tourism activities that cross into or out of the CMCO areas are forbidden.
